Trending & News All these people and their wrong answers - Okay ALL liquids count even sodas are mostly water - however that comes with a caveat; some drinks like coffee actually act as diuretics or they simply dehydrate you because of other ingredients. If you want to drink 8 cups of water per day then you should be able to tell best by your bladder whether or not you are getting the use of that water. There are a lot of reasons though why water as opposed to other drinks is better though.:
read this:
"Although the "8 by 8" rule isn't supported by hard evidence, it remains popular because it's easy to remember. Just keep in mind that the rule should be reframed as: "Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day," because all fluids count toward the daily total."
AND -
"On average, food provides about 20 percent of total water intake. For example, many fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon and tomatoes, are 90 percent or more water by weight.
In addition, beverages such as milk and juice are composed mostly of water. Even beer, wine and caffeinated beverages — such as coffee, tea or soda — can contribute,"
This calculator might help you personalize your goal as well: link
AND FINALLY ------------------------------------
On this website it gives GREAT explanations of other fluids and how they can contribute such as Tea, Coffee, Fizzy Drinks, Sports Drinks, Energy Drinks etc -- link
Thank you!
thanks for best! hope it helps! ( I did some research a few years ago when my doctors draw dropped during my pilots physical because I was so dehydrated. in fact "the second most dehydrated pilot he had seen in 15 years" appearently. whoops! lol
lol what made you dehydrated?
its actually 8 cups a day...i don't think that's quiet a gallon...
why not just have straight up water, in a cup? or use water and then add flavor mix?
This is not the question. I'm not looking for a replacement. I'm asking if coffe, green tea, etc..are counted among the eight glasses of water or not.
its amazing how easy google is to use :)
Thanks.
if your tea and coffee are decaff then yes it counts. if anything you drink has caffeine in it, the water content doesn't count because caffeine dehydrates not hydrates. also things with lots of sugar such as juices don't count towards your water intake.
drinks that the water content can be counted: decaff coffee or tea (herbal or not), milk (its almost 87% water!), and plain water.
how much should you drink? take your weight in pounds and divide it by 2 and then change pounds to ounces and that's how much water you need daily. e.g. 120 pounds/2=60 pounds=60 ounces of water!
Yes tea is because it has no calories but coffee no. Just get one of those gallons of water and have it always with you. That's like 8 glasses right there
You are pretty much drinking diluted water. Water straight up would be healthier. But yes, you do have your proper in take.

No they don't because they contain caffein, which dehydrates you, which sucks because plain water all the time is boring lol. Drinking tea along with water is good for you though :)
It's pretty safe to say that anything you drink that contains caffeine, which acts as a diuretic (increasing the rate at which your body sheds water), such as teas or coffee, should not count.
They contribute but caffeine dehydrates you also. Also, there is water in the food you eat that contributes to your water intake as well.
Tea/caffeine actually dehydrates you, thus doing the opposite of the reason you're trying to drink enough in the first place.
You're not supposed to drink a gallon of water a day.
Where the hell are you getting your information from? Atlantis?
no they are counted your body extracts water out of them but I will suggest you shld drink less of artificial drinks
Tea drinkers get their water quota this way, so you don't have to worry about that!
Tea counts, not coffee its has more cream...
tea counts, coffee doesn't
