I hate my skin!!! Anyone else similar experiences?

I have had acne since age ten, I've tried everything from proactiv to clearasil and neutrogena. Nothing works. I have stuck with neutrogena because it seems to supress it the most and makes my skin feel healthier. But I'm 18 and going to college soon and it just sucks, it kills my confidence to not have clears skin and it feels very embarassing. If I went to a dermatologist could they help? I just don't know and I can't even look at myself in the mirror because of it. Can any one relate to this?

My acne is not terrible, but it is not just breakouts either. It is constantly several little red bumps primarily on my forehead and has been like that for past 8 years

Dermatologists can help a ton! I have been in your shoes! I know how you feel. I had bad acne since I was ten, and up to about 18. In cases that are serious, it's usually because of a hormone issue. Now, with girls they can take birth control and for me that helped a lot. It pretty much cured my acne.

But for guys it's harder since they can't take that. I highly recommend going to a dermatologist. They can prescribe you something that will help. I have these cleansing pads which are almost like Oxy pads, but way better and they actually work. They are called Clindoxyl pads, and you basically just wipe your face after you wash it every night. It also comes in a gel or cream form, but the gel/cream dries out your face more.

Your dermatologist will prescribe the thing that they feel is best. So they may not prescribe what I had.

But none of that over the counter stuff is going to work for you, it's crap. It only works for people who get the odd pimple now and then, not people who have multiple pimples all the time, or full on acne all over their face. That is why the commercials never show people who actually have acne. It's not made for them.

But yes, a dermatologist can help you immensly :) And it will be better for you because you sound like you have it less severe than I ever did! So I don't think you need to worry much! Once you see a dermatologist they can hook you up with what you need and recommend how to curb this acne for good!

i'm a girl but I feel your pain.

i started getting pimples around the age you did.

ironically my acne was much worse back then and it's better now. all the stuff you did and more including prescription. I got a lot of crap in elementary and middle school. my acne has gotten better I think because I'm eating better and trying natural things. for example, tea tree oil is a great spot treatment. just make sure you dilute it in water, it really burns the first time. I also started taking supplements (I take women's supplements...because I'm a girl. they have vitamins and stuff for healthy skin but I don't know how it would work for a guy) I think before going to a dermatologist you should try changing your diet and decreasing your stress levels. look into holistic practises. my mom is a herbalist.

well I used to use natural remedies,and they worked,but only for a short time,i would still get break outs cause even if you dry pimples,and get rid of scars,your body still makes you break out again. so I've started taking some pills,my acne isn't terrible,but I just don't want to deal with it at all-i stared taking 'cerin' from sensilab,i'm on day 14 right now,and it's pretty damn great,my skin isn't completely clear,but it has improved,i'm pretty sure it will be clear by day 30 link

After 4 years... Does sensilab worked for you? i'm used it for day 1 ..

Try Clarins Lotus oil treatment.. it goes on your forehead before bed and should help balance the oil production in your T zone and help your acne. It's a bit pricey but clarins products are great. Good luck!

you have to wait to groe out of acne. there's no quick fix. if you tried everything that its your homrones. when you get older it will start to go away
