"I'm gonna be vegetarian to lose weight"; do you think vegetarianism defaultly results in healthy weight loss?

I've heard people say / do this, and you probably have, too.

Do you think that vegetarianism defaultly gets people to (healthily) lose weight when done for an elongated period of time (as in 6 weeks or longer)?

Please give your insight.

Btw I know there's various types of vegetarianism, so please be specific as to which style of vegetarianism you're referring to in your answer. 8-)
