Being alone with my thoughts, I came to the conclusion that I cannot justify eating meat that comes from the places I eat it from through factory farms, because of the knowledge I have about the industry. I also don’t think that the nutrition of the meat I consume is that great through the overcrowded, corn-based environments of most of the meat. I also cannot justify how meat production causes so much water contamination (antibiotics) and other problems.
So I have decided that I’ll try becoming mostly vegetarian but maybe eat fish. If it’s around, I am not going to beat myself up if I decide to eat a piece of bacon or something. I am also going to seek out meat from family/local farms when possible which will be better quality and better for the environment and local economy instead of just Walmart or Mc’s.
I will still eat animal products like eggs and milk.
As for my nutritional needs, if I feel as though I am lacking in some vitamin due to not eating meat, I will find a vegetarian option that has the b vitamins or iron in its place. Or I might find a good quality grass fed beef on occasion.
what do you think?
Very clever of you little fluffy, but you can also try the veg made meat. I just can't tell the difference in beyond meat, burgers and franks. Even impossible meat burgers are good too. Now days you even get meat made in the lab. They come in slices. But Fluffy, I come from a lot of strength training background, and the first thing that the bastards used to make us do is drop the meat. They put us on high protein diets, which is bean sprouts and even that algae stuff called spurella or something. I don't much care for meat either, but I am bachelor who does not cook, so between eating out and take homes and begging from my sister, I don't have a choice. But I think you are right. Our food industry are butchers, ( in the real sense) if we ever saw I shit they do we would never eat anything again. But if you google protein % in meat you will be shocked, beef which has the highest protein is about less than 25 %, and even something like peanuts has 75% protein, thats 3 times more protein. So meat is not big shit protein, google it and see yourself. But man, BBQ is good too. LOL

It sounds like a good plan. Being vegetarian shouldn't risk you being short of vitamins, it's only really vegans that miss out on B12, and there are supplements for that if you don't eat eggs and dairy. There are a lot of vegetarian fake "meats" out there that are very good. Not all of them, of course, but the more processed the original, the closer the alternatives get. Fake chicken nuggets, for example, are practically indistinguishable; you only really eat them for the crunch and sauce anyway.
Those are great reasons, but if you don't get enough of trace vitamins, rely on a good broad daily vitamin. There are many good vegetarian options and, in general it's kinder to the planet. I'd suggest consulting a dietition and a good book on healthy vegetarian eating, so you have the basics down.
Eating locally farmed foods and products from chickens with names (I buy eggs from a farmer's market lady who names all her chickens. It's funny.) who you know are free range makes me feel better. I've visited the farm where I get my pork sausage from and those are some fairly happy pigs. I know what they eat and how they're finished, it's the same with the beef those farmers sell. Small operations with hands-on owners usually take better care of the animals they have for their livelihoods.
I don't want to eat chickens from crowded, polluting, corporate farms or stuffed with antibiotics because of the conditions they live in. It's inhumane and it's unhealthy for humans too.
Food production is generally a huge burden for environment. Developed countries will sooner or later reduce food production just for their own needs to reduce environmental pollution with nitrogen compounds. Ironically fewer farm animals will speed up this process because more artificial fertilizer will be needed.
I feel bad for populations which need to import majority of food as bad they feel for us. However they will have troubles to keep their people properly fed in next decades.

If you don't eat meat you can easily become anemic due to missing iron in your diet. Anemia can lead to things like leukemia and or death. Your body absolutely needs things like meat for the purpose of supplying red blood cells. If you don't eat meat or can't get it you need to cooking in a cast iron skillet and taking vitamin C to help produce red blood cells. Things like peanut butter gives you protein.
I think it's a good idea if you still eat fish, eggs and dairy. Try to get local, farm sourced products like eggs and dairy. Eating vegetables and fruits that are not processed is also healthy.
i dietician would tell you to eat beef poultry or fish each day. so ask a dietician and blame him for the choice.
Most vegetarians usually go back to being omnivores. I don't really trust people who say theyre "vegetarian", just to say they're one
Just going to leave this here.
Just do it.
