Do you think my dream can actually be applied to my real life to help me understand something that I previously hadn’t understood?

I don’t know how it’s even possible for me to have dreams that seemingly enlighten me to some of my confusion in my own life. I feel like our dreams are made up of what we know and think, so our dreams should reflect our own beliefs and thoughts, right? Well, for the most part mine always do reflect my worst fears and my deepest thoughts. But there have been 3 times in my life where I’ve had very vivid and realistic seeming dreams wherein somebody in the dream told me something that I never quite thought of. After the dream, I wake up and it’s as if the words are still freshly coming to my mind for a few minutes while I’m still groggy from sleep. So I write down the words that seem to just be popping up randomly in my head and the end result becomes a message that I NEVER actually considered that I always feel is something that I need to know. Last night was the third time in my life where I had one of those realistic seeming dreams. I had a dream that I met the girl my ex cheated on me for. She was pretty, fun, and not that bad of a person. She said she didn’t know about me and agreed that what happened between me and my ex was fucked up, especially how he just left me hanging. She said they were still on good terms enough to talk, so she texted him and set him up so that I would be able to meet him and exact some revenge. We devised a plan to bust his car up (something I would never consider actually doing) and we cornered him. He was very surprised to see me, and I roughed him up some. But then he started to explain himself. And I randomly woke up out of my sleep and started to write down the “explanation” that was still popping up in my mind even after I had already woken up. I didn’t think about what I was writing at all, it just came out. And I ended up with this imaginary “statement” that he never actually said. And it helps me feel closure despite not actually being told this.
