Will my skin get better if I cut out bad food?

I don't have terrible acne or anything, I just have not so great skin. I was thinking it might have something to do with my lack of water and bad eating habits. I started to drink more water about a month ago and my skin started to clear up, before I hadn't been drinking any water at all. Also, my diet is pretty bad. I eat a lot of food that has tons of fat/suger in it. So if I cut all of that out, should I skin start to get better?
