Trending & News Yes, we would all be better off. Cooking with fresh foods, non-processed foods are healthier.
Fast foods & sodas are not the entire problem, but it is a huge problem.
For folks to say it's "hardly" the problem, they are forgetting that children who are given this for their meals without choices, and are not given opportunities for getting out & playing or exercising, this is a problem. Therefore, obese children. Not to mention, low income families cannot afford gym memberships to go workout 3-6 times a week, or a babysitter to go do that. These are important things to keep in mind.
Eating healthy, balanced meals when you are low income is a huge problem. "Crap" food is cheap. High fat, high calorie foods are cheap & filling. Fresh fruits & veggies are not in the budget for many folks. That doesn't make them lazy. They are poor. As for a "snack" or a "treat" once in awhile, many folks can't do that like others can. They just want to fill their families up so they aren't hungry.
Yes, some folks are lazy, but it is not all people. And to generalize that all folks are is just wrong.
Something we all can do to help? Donate good, healthy food to your local food pantry. And not just at Thanksgiving & Christmas.
No.
The reason people opt for the unhealthy option is, generally, the food tastes better.
If you're faced with carrot sticks or a bag of crisps, you know which you should eat but you know which you'll prefer.
Even if you took all that stuff away, you can still make it at home. Getting rid of it wouldn't change anything. Even if you got rid of deep fat fryers, you can still fry with a saucepan of hot oil.
As someone else said it's a choice. Even some of the "healthy" things aren't that good for you. Everyone says to eat nuts. Nuts, as well as high in protein, are stuffed with fat, so you could just as easily put on huge amounts of weight by eating nuts!
...lmao fast food AND soda are HARDLY the issue to obsitey in the united states...
i eat fast food all the time and I drink soda, daily...probably more than I should
i also eat candy and all that crap food
but I do put in healthy food as well...my meals are balanced, I just like to treat myself to a snack...
so this isn't about fast food companies or soda companies making America obese...its the fact that they are lazy and have no motivation to do anything physical...i work out at least 3x a week and that's a busy week...mostly 4-5x a week...its all about staying active and eating healthy a majority of the time...dont single out fast food and soda for the country being fat, everyone controls their own weight...
this is the core issue. politicians are into this none sense about cutting down sweet drinks and putting healthier snacks in kids meals. which doesn't solve the problem. I do eat it like you once in awhile, but over all eat a much balance diet. (the only thing is I don't work out). still process and fast food is still not good for you.
FDA is a bunch of BLAHHHHHHHHHHH...but yeah this whole NYC trying to get rid of the 16oz drink? really? so what...i can buy 2 8oz and its better for me? PLEASEE people will find loop holes! lol its just weird to me...but yes I agree with you, the government is trying to put a band-aid on the problem...not stitch it up and fix it!
Not necessarily. Those people who usually eat out most often might eat healthier since they don't really have much choices. Those people who love fast food because it tastes good might go to restaurants that offer fatty foods.
And who is to say what fast food is considered? Sure we can agree that McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and stuff would make the list. But what about Chipotle, Subway, Quiznos, Jimmy Johns, etc.

I don't believe the majority of people would eat healthier. I live in Alabama and we are not known for healthy food. We didn't eat fast food much when I was growing up it was all home made but still very unhealthy. Fried chicken, fried veggies and home made sweets and it is actually cheaper to cook at home despite the argument that it is less expensive to eat fast food. I guess what I am saying is that take away fast food and those who want to eat unhealthy will still do so. As for the soda, I grew up on southern sweet tea which is loaded with sugar and still very unhealthy, humans will find a way to eat unhealthy.
Just because there aren't organized eating establishments doesn't mean people won't create the food. It's how they were originally invented and it's how they will keep going. People will be forced to eat healthier but, eventually fat foods will come on again, in any way they are distributed.
I hate what if questions because they an invalid premise... but because there would be no fast food doesn't mean people would eat better. They would just find something else that is quick and easy to eat that is equally unhealthy
Restaurants are often worse then fast food.
People need to actually cook.
And I'm not saying what would be required for that to happen.
Depends what it is.
A restaurant burger and fries will pack more calories then fast food one, typically.
yes,but it depends on the person. your can eat a stick of butter at home, and you can eat a balanced meal-it's a decision.
What's the point. Most people considering cooking at home to be something they microwave anyway. It's maybe a bit better, but what's the difference?
I will disappear with them...people just need to learn self control instead of blaming it on the food
I think if healthy food wasn't so got damn expensive..hell yea people would
probably not 100% healthier but it would definitely be a great start.
too bad it will never happen lol
Since I don't eat that fast food crap it wouldn't bother me or change my eating style at all but I think if fast food did exist my brother would surely die lol
I already make my own burgers.
I can haz cheezburger? Omnomonom
Everyone would go to restaurants like The Golden Coral hahaha or somewhere with a "salad" bar.
Some things are impossible to not exist. This is one of them.
Maybe a little healthier, but they would probably start making more unhealthy food at home haha.
Everyone would pig out on gourmet pizzas and grilled cheese sandwhiches from tony restaurants.
yes
not totally but it would be an amazing start
but then our economy would be effected greatly =(
Fast food only serves to enable a mind set. America is lazy and lethargic. We'd still find a way to get our fix.
there probably wouldn't be much of an effect, its that people shouldn't just eat smart and right, they should be phyically active more.
Possible, we still have a sh*tload of junk food tho.
Wouldn't this be WONDERFUL?
Maybe but they would still have junk food
Yes, they would have no choice.
There are supermarkets.
No, they'd just reinvent the Big Mac.
they would go through withdraw and eat each other
i already am.
Well I already eat healthy
