H3N2 Swine Flu - Exactly how dangerous is it?

So I was reading up on my local news, and came across a statement saying there were warnings of H3N2 swine flu going around. Their direct statement:

"The CDC said in one week, the cases of the Swine Flu sharply increased from 29 reported to 158.

The new strain they're seeing is H3N2, different from the H1N1 pandemic a few years ago. Fair exhibitors are being told to only show healthy animals, and state and federal animal health officials will be around to check."

How dangerous is it? Is it extremely fatal?

Oh please...it infected 158 people? big whoop. The regular flew infects and kills hundreds of thousands of people a year, in America alone 36,000 people die per year from the regular flu.

A few years ago everyone was going on about swine flu would kill us all, and now just about everyone in America forgot about it even happening.

I would be more concerned about getting killed by falling coconuts...

Nothing is dangerous if you have a vaccine for it.

Elders and infants are more prone to the disease.

It is an influenza virus which infects your respiratory.

If you get it, your pretty much dead.

Really? Are you speaking in the infent/elder term or in general?

Easier for them to get it but you have a lesser chance. Doubt you'll get the swine flu unless you won the lottery already. XD

H1N1 swept through my school a few years ago. So many kids were gone that they were one student away from shutting the school down. But it's no big deal. Most of those kids took the virus as an opportunity to get out of school. Heck, all my friends got it, and I was around them all the time and didn't get it. No one can know for sure what H3N2 is since its never been seen before. Odds are, we'll all live.

There's no telling just how brutal a flu season is going to be. There have been times they anticipated a big problem and it ended up not being one and vice versa. It is absolutely important to get vaccinated though, for both your own protection and the protection of those who cannot get vaccinated.

Don't worry about these things, its just the governemtn trying to scare you into getting the vaccine which ruins your immune system.

No one can be sure about a new strain of a virus. That's why they are worried!
