Maybe help lose a little weight (with a good diet)? But more so, to tone up? Is a a decent all over body exercise if kept upbeat?
Didn't they say that a couple of the people on that dancing with the stars show lose weight and get in better shape while they were competing on dancing with the stars? I think dancing will help with losing weight.

Of course! You'll note that professional dancers are almost universally thin and toned. But you've got to keep the energy level up.
