Of course, the natural way is the best option. However, not everyone has that choice. My best friend was in a severe car accident years ago. He suffered permanent injuries to his back, he has had numerous surgeries to repair the damage with rods and pins to name a few. As a result, he cannot exercise at all. He has put on weight and a lot of it stems from medication he takes. For the sake of his health and back problems, he had the gastric sleeve procedure done. He has slowly lost weight and is feeling better. I think it's good to have that option provided the person can't do it naturally for medical reasons.

Personally, if they haven't tried anything else and eat junkfood and drink soda a lot, it's taking the easy way out. I know someone who is heavily overweight, eats a lot, eats unhealthy and drinks a lot of soda (and I do mean a lot). He's having surgery in a couple of weeks or months but he never tried to diet. He had to diet not to be at risk for the surgery and he couldn't do that...
If they tried a lot of things, different diets, exercises, ...and it still hasn't helped, I totally understand they feel the need for surgery. But I do see it as a last resort.
I work on a surgical floor and we recieve many patients who are morbidly obese. You must remember that not everyone is fat because they are lazy or eat unhealthy. Some people gain weight due to other health problems, and surgery becomes a necessity to live. Personally though, I do feel that the weight should be lost naturally if possible because staying thin and healthy is a lifestyle. If you weren't disciplined enough to lose the weight yourself, what makes you think you'll be disciplined enough to keep it off?
natural way is ideal. you generally don't want to ever go under the knife. people die from anesthesia all the time. sure you can fix the outside, but I think a person has more healing to do on the inside, emotionally and spiritually. then the outside will follow suit.all people have to do is change their diets and exercise, no knife need. some people are like drug addicts when it comes to food and I guess at that point surgury is probably needed. there are surgurys to permenantly decrease the size of the stomach
It's pathetic,it's like having your hands cut off so you can stop smoking.
Clearly there re psychological problems involved, and cutting won't cure those...

The easy way is not so easy anyway because some of the obese folk have died during that surgery. Here's an idea - think of the future. It's that simple. People should stop being so ignorant, stupid and weak, and just simply take control of their lives and not get fat. Fat people who feel sorry for themselves on account of being fat are pathetic.
Most people don't need it while the extreme few do need it simply being the lesser of 2 evils.
i'ts because they are lazy and weak willed
