Need some advice about my ex

Me and my ex broke up about a month ago due to him continuing to keep in touch with someone he had sex with previously. After I had told him I was uncomfortable with him talking to her. Since then I have cut off all tides with him and changed my number we had been friends for almost 8 years I haven't try to contact him since then and I don't know if he has tried to contact me being that I have changed my number we ended on a rough note I have spoken to him in about a month and half but something keeps telling me to contact him. It's not like a feeling of I want to get back with him or to see if he has moved on. It's more of a I feel like something is wrong and I should call him it was really weird because before I decided to post this I was laying in my bed during homework and it's like I heard his voice say I need you...weird I know but I just don't know if I should at this point he really hurt me and I just don't know if I'm ready to start communicating with him again on that level but I just wanted to know if he is alright...I was thinking about sending a text just asking how he was doing and if he tries to start a lot of conversation just cut it short and keep it brief...Just wanted to know if I should or just leave it alone it's just I feel this urgency to make sure he is ok
