well, For desserts i can make cakes, cookies, cupcakes, souffles, cheesecakes, tarts, handmade chocolates, mousses and pies
For meals i can make quiche, pasta with homemade sauces like pesto, bechamel sauce, tomato sauce, breads (although i'm not very good at it), curries, lasagna, tacos, burritos, homemade cheeses and yogurt, and pretty much anything which isn't too complicated.
I do know how to cook, complicated dishes turn out rather better than the easy ones for me, but i'm not very experienced.10 Reply

+1 y8.
I can make hand-rolled sushi, a very large variety of traditional Cambodian dishes, some Vietnamese (Pho), and have made homemade Pesto and have made hand-made Gnocchi dishes before.
Something about cooking has always just mesmerized me.10 Reply

I've worked in a hotels kitchen before, but there wasn't
enough excitement for me in that kind of job
so I didn't work there for too long ^.~10 Reply
I'm not a trained chef, but aside from that I do know cooking is one thing I'm good at. I love the challenge and find the whole process to be incredibly therapeutic.

I range between a 4 and an 9, I think. Depends on how much time I have and how my mood is. I've cooked food that other people said was delicious and asked me how I cooked it, but I've also ruined some food or cooked something that looked so much like goo that no one wanted to touch.
10 ReplyI voted D. I use to through dinner parties and everyone told me how good my cooking was. I also use to work at group homes and I had to come and cook once a week and everyone liked my cooking. when I was with my ex boyfriend and he told me I was a good cook. He was a better cook then myself so if he was telling me I was a good cook I would give myself a 7-8. I am obsessed with cooking healthy no added salt and I never eat anything or make anything that has sugar of flour in it.
10 ReplyI would say currently an 8. I've never cooked something that didn't work, I spend a lot of my time watching cooking shows and joining cooking related websites. I love the idea of hosting once I get my own house (student living currently lol). I frequently try new recipes. If I was professionally trained I would be ace.

+1 yProbably a 6. I can follow a recipe which is what I usually do. But making shit up on the fly? No way!
If we were rating baking skills, I would say I am a solid 9. =)11 Reply 8. I'm a big improvisator in the kitchen, and for some reason my meats always turn out delicious. No such luck with pastries... I try though. They are usually ok, but compared to my meats and pasta sauces... meh.

+1 yI'm the only vegetarian in my family, so I can cook a whole bunch of stuff with quinoa and tofu but that's about it. Usually I just throw rice /beans/vegetables/lentils in my rice cooker, add some water, and hope for the best.
10 ReplyI'd say 5 (average). I'm capable of cooking well, I just don't like spending more time making my food than eating it, so I tend to only cook the easiest things.
I am pretty decent at following somewhat difficult recipes, though, when I want to.10 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI votes A.
I can make easy things, like -
Eggs
Spaghetti
Meat loaf
Breaded Cheeseburger
French Fries
Etc.
But REAL cooking, I'm useless
I bow my head in shame (._.)

10 Reply9, I tend to cook pretty well, watching all those cooking shows pay off, but trial and error will be the result of a delicious meal. :)

+1 yI will be not modest, sorry. I am one of the best. I can cook from Netherlands to Japan and soups to desserts. So?

+1 yI rate my cooking ability 7-8 bcs I work out and very picky about my food so I can't let others prepare my food.
10 ReplyI'd say 5-6. I manage around the kitchen and sometimes positively surprice myself, but I don't think my cooking skill is anything above average.

I suppose this is more your style?

Also... I will now proceed to replace all "that's" with "what's" in conversation =P - +1 y
Well, luckily for you, I live on an island where lobster is like $7 a pound so that may be easier to arrange than you think!
It's ironic what we're interchanging what's with what's because I have a childhood friend who would actually replace some of his "what"'s with "what"'s and he'd be all "What's the recipe for the cupcakes what we're cooking later!".
How do you like me now? Also, also... ALSO! - +1 y
...Is this island called HEAVEN? Lobster is so expensive over here... $12 for just the tail. Ok, so in order for the punishment to be effective, I will require 40 of those lobsters without the rubber band claw restrainer thingies =D
I would also like to meet this friend. He sounds like he would be fascinating. And what is not an easy feat considering what so many people strive to be unique these days.
AHEM. I would like to amend my original demand. I require 160 unrestrained lobsters and some TNT and...a coconut. And if you can manage to make the lobsters angry and snappy... that would be perfect =D - +1 y
It IS called Heaven! You've heard of it? Ohhhhh, you wanted LIVE lobsters! That's $7.50 a pound! My friend isn't all that interesting. Picture Hank Hill but slightly younger and loves "what" instead of propane.
I just realized. Not only is this punishment going to be painful (and kinky) but it's going to be damn expensive too! I assume this lobsterTNTcoconut-purchasing will be Dutch? - +1 y
There was this really huge book, forgot the name, that mentioned 'heaven' a few times...Something about people with wings and 72 virgins? Wait. I might be confusing my collection of really big books =P
I didn't know who Hank Hill was...but I must admit that his spectacles and gill-like forehead wrinkles are absolutely charming, if not spellbinding =D
Hmmm... I typically do believe in splitting costs and whatnot... How about you pay for the lobsters and the TNT and I will cover the coconut? That sounds right about even! =D =D - +1 y
I had to read your comment over twice before I realized which "big books" you were referring to, lmao. I finally realized what you were referring to George R. R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire'! Yes, yes, that's precisely where I live!
I don't blame you for not knowing. I consider it a displeasure to know who he is!
I just want to take a moment to stop and reflect how far these comments have gone from cooking, lol. Except for the coconut that I shall require a receipt with!!

Opinion Owner+1 ywasn't really meant to be stand up, just some self deprecating sarcasm, but that seems to have gone over your head.
Opinion Owner+1 yit's on the same level of irony and banter. so, yes, it is, it's playful, not serious. anyway, didn't think anyone would take the statement seriously, you'd have to be an idiot to think anyone actually counts boiling water as cooking, but alas, here you are.
- +1 y
@ Distance, Sarcasm is what one would consider "Dry Humor" so if you are going to try and be a smart ass, at least try to keep the actually smart in the picture.
