Hobby Obsession - Mental Illness or Normal?

i have A. D. D and an obsession with Magnet Fishing. I can spend hours scouring Google Maps looking and cataloging my next Magnet Fishing spot. I think I've followed just about ever river in my state.

But I digress and wonder if this common or just unique to mental illness?

P. S Magnet Fishing involves the use of powerful magnets and ropes to pull objects out of bodies of water, it's fun and conservation.

I don't really understand it, myself, because the objects are not really in good usable condition (are they?), but it is a treasure hunt of sorts, and as a kid, I used to enjoy looking for things that my stepfather lost; or find casings at the gun range I would occasionally go to with him (he loaded his own bullets). If someone wants what is found, then it has value. There's a local guy in my city, a hobby diver, who dives into lakes and stuff, to retrieve items for people. He has a website or Facebook account or something, where people can say, "Please help me find my lost..." and he does! The local news did a story about him. He finds engagement and wedding rings for people quite often. Maybe you'd want to do that. You wouldn't get to keep the items, but you would make some people very happy.

I've seen a few people magnet fishing near me but I've never seen or heard of anyone find anything apart from garbage. The rivers been heavily used for centuries by both the navel vessels and traders from across the globe so it's surprising people only find junk.

I have seen some of the crazy shit people have found while magnet fishing, such as old hand grenades and 20 MM rounds.
