I just don't think it's right that my husband changed the hour that we are going to church for a football game?

Honestly it feels like he really doesn't care about the things of God and I say this because I know that one has hobbies and likes but him changing the time that we go to church gives me the impression that he just goes to church to show face not because he actually yearns for the things of God and that he's just going earlier because he wants to watch his football game because that's what matters more and it feels frustrating cuz how am I supposed to have faith that he's really in this for Jesus not to impress me or just doing it to make me shut up and then he questions why I don't tell him stuff about God stuff about dreams that I sometimes get from God he makes it hard to have faith in him am I in the wrong

Oddly I'm probably more of a monk than your husband and I'm an atheist. To me, God is a metaphor for the laws of the universe not an actual entity of some kind. Small wonder people want to get close to God, the source of all life and happiness, love and acceptance. I see what you mean but it could be that he just wants to have faith in God and watch football too. I once knocked on a priest’s door and he told me to come back later because the game was on.

That's the thing that last year when it was football season he would watch the football game during the service and not really focus on the service that's why my frustration is there and I feel like during the first service yeah I mean we're going to get a portion but I feel like his mind isn't even going to be present there in the service receiving God's word and blessings because he's way too excited or his mind is too focused on the games

Yeah but he's going to be thinking about his game that's the problem he's not going to be thinking about listening to the sermon in reality cuz his mind is going to be filled with the excitement of the game

I'm trying to find the compromise cuz our church has three services and he wants to go to the first one because the second and third one interfere with his football and hockey game but we usually go to the third service or sometimes the second one but it is stuff like this that makes me think is going to Church because of God or he's going to church because of routine and it's already frustrating enough that she doesn't like it that to be honest I don't believe in him in that area he makes it hard to believe in him when he does things that makes it seem like she's just going to church to keep me happy or like I said out of routine not because he actually wants to be there for the things of God and for a relationship with God and I understand he's probably to find a middle but when he does stuff like this and makes me think that he prioritizes his hobbies way much more than God

My philosophy is, I might miss church for social events, but I will not miss church for superficial events such as a sports game, a card game, a bowling event etc...
