Postpone Christmas on a later date?

Long story short, I’m a single mom raising a 4 year old boy by myself. The job I have told me I have work part time instead of full time. I can’t afford to work part time. So I’m looking for a full time job. It’s November and I’m running out of time to get Christmas ready for my son. However, I’m still going to give him Christmas.. but a on a later date. I don’t want him to think Santa didn’t give him anything for Christmas on Christmas Day, so I was going to postpone it.
My question is, is this the wrong thing to do? I’ve never done this before and I don’t want to ruin Christmas.

One year, we were beyond broke. It was Christmas Eve and I was driving in a snow storm to the Dollar Store to get a few things for my kids with the whatever money I had scraped together. The kids did notice that Santa was a lot less generous than previous years.

Anyhow, I didn't know at the time that there are churches and other organizations (including public schools) with gift giving opportunities. As a mom, you can let them know you're in a tight spot and they will help out while keeping you anonymous.

I've participated in those as a volunteer (and giver). Typically, a parent writes their child's age and maybe 3 items from their wish list including size and color of the item, then it's delivered in December.

I recommend calling around.

You won’t ruin it momma! Keep on truckin and you’ll get by. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’ve got enough to juggle. Hang in there. Do a treasure hunt with foot prints that look like reindeer hoofs and Santa boots… :)

You don't have to buy him a bunch of stuff either. Spend the day with him doing things together. Bake some cookies or throw a Frisbee. To ask if not participating in a society based tradition is wrong then that's kinda messed up knowing it has that much pressure on anyone that doesn't follow. Just saying. Do what you can do and that's all there needs to be

I understand. You’re in a bad situation. I think postponing Christmas is better then no Christmas at all. Sure try to enjoy the holiday in some way or another.

But I will think it would be fine to postpone it.

Do what you can within tradition. It is good for kids to feel pain and struggle. It is real life.

Toys don't matter. It's superficial junk. You can give your son Christmas March 1st and he won't know the difference.

What matters is you giving your kid love, guidance and discipline which will have lasting effects instead of toys he is going to throw in a corner after about a week of playing with it.
