Who knows? As the start date was arbitrarily set, and then the switch from Julian and Gregorian calendars in the West led to this weirdness:
December 31, 1750 was followed by January 1, 1750 (under the "Old Style" calendar, December was the 10th month and January the 11th)
March 24, 1750 was followed by March 25, 1751 (March 25 was the first day of the "Old Style" year)
December 31, 1751 was followed by January 1, 1752 (the switch from March 25 to January 1 as the first day of the year)
September 2, 1752 was followed by September 14, 1752 (drop of 11 days to conform to the Gregorian calendar)
Anyway, to me, it was January 1, 2001. But I'm not going to argue with those who disagree.
for the record and book-keeping purposes... it started at January 1st, in the year 2001
but I do tell everyone that it was the year 2000
that's what you get from democracy... that's funny
just like the Imperial System lmao... the most complicated and nonsense of the two... but still reigns supreme, lmao
the English language has never been known for making sense anyway...
LMAO…
LOL…
If you start with zero when counting to ten, it’s really eleven. 🤓
Might be a bit embarrassing if they had his birthday wrong all of this time.
Isn’t it China (apologies if wrong) that starts counting from conception?
True. Maybe they flipped a coin. That coin would be worth something today..
2000 because we are not born aged 1 we wait a year to earn it

2000…… come on. You didn’t migrate form Yahoo Answers too. Did you?
Has to do with math, because when you start counting... do you count by starting with 0 or 1?
I count starting with 1, so I count 1, through 10 to get 10.
Therefore it it was 2001.
Now some people may count starting at 0, so they count 0 through 9 to get 10, in that case it ends on 9 and starts on 0.
Officially, I don't really care.
2001, but because it's counter-intuitive people don't get it. Also, we all wanted to get drunk a year early.
If you start off at year 1 and add 2000 you end up with 2001 so that is the riight answer.
2001 but people like round numbers so they made it 2000.
2001, because the year 0 doesn't exist. We start in year 1.
2000 was the first year of the 21st Century
i count my days in the nutsac so i say 2000
