Has marriage become as bad in other countries as it has in the US?

All of my friends from high school who got married have since been divorced by their wives, and most of the have had their lives turned upside down. One even committed suicide. Except for one guy, who was always kind of a jerk, all of them were good guys. It seems most men in the US today are opposed to marriage because they see what is happening to other guys. It feels like women are destroying marriage here. I'm just wondering if it's this bad elsewhere too. How is the state of marriage in other places like Canada, Europe and Australia?

The only upside of marriage is that had I been married to my ex fiancé, I would find it easier to go to him and meet him sooner or he would be allowed to come to me sooner…

Other than that I never thought marriage is anything special.

But I never want it to happen again.

I don’t want ever to love a man and being unable to see him because I have less rights or he has less rights than a married couple.

We need to change laws. We need to allow couples (non-married ones) to meet each other easily, if there is a lockdown ever again, they must be able to see each other.

Isn’t it a basic human right to be free to love and be happy?

And then government or the whole world stands between you and tell you you can’t see the love of your life, because you are not married.

You want to burn the whole world.

I mean that, at least marriage has one advantage and that is, nobody can tell me I can’t meet my husband. Nobody can stop us from meeting one another. That’s the only one really.

And that’s a big one, because I almost died when I was unable to meet him, it’s a living hell really.

You just want the whole world to disappear and you hate everyone and everything that stops you from hugging him.

I think married couples shouldn’t have more rights than the ones who are in a relationship.

What’s the difference really?

Just because someone signed a paper sooner than us, they are allowed to meet and not us? Doesn’t make sense.

Marriage is just an agreement between people and it is no better, and no worse, than the people who must put in the effort to make their agreement work. If people expect marriage to be wonderful and not require any effort, they typically run away at the first sign of problems.

That doesn't mean "marriage" is bad. It means that the people getting married are bad.

And, FYI, the current divorce rate is at a 50 year record low, most likely because the people who shouldn't get married are not getting married as much.

Outside of the western countries it's good. You get women who want men for being a man and not because they want a Toyota Camry.

you're treated with more respect overseas. Thats why passports bro is a thing. But In a generation or two feminism might take over those cultures and there won't be anywhere left for men to get married to a decent woman.

I live in Colombia and the divorce rate is 2%, it has doubled due to American influence, in general marriage has always been rubbish, the free man should renounce marriage.

I don't think so. It's mostly a problem with American women.
