Some might be afraid, some simply know it's not worth it. At least if we're talking about the most common type of "marriage" these days, the state-sanctioned "marriage". The way things stand now, state-sanctioned "marriage" is just a way to torment and extort men. Together with the divorce rape phenomenon, the terms and conditions of this form of legal agreement are designed to punish men just for their existence. Therefore, while some Western men might actually be afraid of getting married, not getting married is simply an absolutely rational decision for a Western man in the 21st century.

Or is it? As I mentioned earlier, all I've pointed out so far only applies to the state-sanctioned "marriage". The true, traditional, purely religious marriage is perfectly fine and even grants some benefits to a responsible man (it also grants some benefits to the woman, buy in this regard, it's similar to the state-sanctioned parody of itself, except it gives the woman far less control over her husband). The problem is, churches in most Western countries offer combined, state-sanctioned and religioud marriages by default, and to get a purely religious marriage is pretty difficult. Now, of course, a combined marriage retains all the disadvantages of a regular state-sanctioned "marriage", so it's by no means a viable option. Thus, the only way to get married these days is to have a purely religious marriage, preferrably in a foreign country, so that the country the husband is a citizen of gets no wind of this marriage taking place.

Thus, as the awareness of the purely religious marriage being available is pretty rare in the West these days, it shouldn't be surprising that men in the West these days avoid marriage like a plague, be it out of fear or out of rational thinking. If You truly love a certain man though, You can suggest such a safe, wholesome option Yourself.

The one watching a lot of YouTube red pill content yes they are fearful of marriage

But others either won’t mind getting married or are indifferent to it. Only a few really want to get married but those are mainly the religious types.

They're not afraid they're just assholes who know they can get the benefit of married life without actually getting married so they don't because marriage do not allow a spouse to abandon their spouse out of the blue which some men love doing it. And it give them the excuse of "oh it's not big deal if I cheat on her we're not married she's just my girlfriend" even if they'r togethr since more than 12 years ;...

Many places in the West only have "no-fault" divorce. What that meaqns in practice is that your spouse can cheat on you, get pregnant / get the adultery partner pregnant, and still be entitled to half of the marital assets, part of your retirement, and if you are the greater earner, alimony, in some cases open-ended till the person remarries.

Because of this dynamic, it can be very unwise to marry.

Some certainly are. I'm not one of those guys, but I'm extremely cautious about who I form a connection with.

The problem is that most men have direct experience (either personal or watching someone they know going through it) with extremely vindictive women trying to punish them or destroy their lives for the hell of it.

It's shocking how common that kind of thing is.

No. There simply isn't any benefit to getting married nowadays, so fewer men want to do it.

In many parts of the world, women are treated like rubbish and / or slaves in marriage, so I totally understand why they wouldn't want to enter into such an arrangement. Many costs and few rewards.

More and more Western men (especially in the Anglosphere) are viewing marriage in the same manner.

It seems far more common these days. I know for me at least I take the issue very seriously as it's a risk and a lifelong commitment. I know many men my age who've sworn off of marriage for fear of the current divorce laws/ rates. Then I know lots of others jumping into it like lemmings.
