In my opinion that’s just a long term relationship, and commitment ceremony — not a wedding or a marriage. I believe in some states you can claim to be married after being together long enough though. Also no, I wouldn’t be down with that because I believe in marriage not 7+ years as a boyfriend/girlfriend.

Fair fair. Would you agree to marriage, with the legal certificate, but asset transfer, child support and alimony didn't exist?

Asset transfer and alimony I personally wouldn’t care about since I have my own, but not child support. He doesn’t get to just check out of that financial responsibility as a father just because we are no longer married. I actually feel like that has less to do with the couple and more about assuring their kid has what they need when they aren’t in that parents care.

Oh great point on that one. I didn't think of it from that perspective. I was thinking more of a 50/50 custody situation, so no child support needed. But obviously that's not how the courts are going to rule most of the time.

And now I wonder if you're just more kind than most people, or your perspective on this topic is the norm. I guess that's why I'm posting the question 😁
