I wouldn’t mind an open marriage.

Being legally separated but also being able (maybe more importantly) to communicate properly to co-parent effectively.

There is a saying "wife happy life happy" and it is true but once you have kids it should be "kids happy, healthy, loved, nurtured, supported no matter what... nothing else matters more".

Open marriage... I'm not completely familiar with the term exactly but think this is more like a poly type thing rather than an open type situation, (by the way does he know you are thinking about this?) I'll look it up.

Sounds pretty poly to me but going from a monogamous married relationship to what is described above would be a hard change for a person (girl or guy) especially not familiar with any form of non-monogamy and already committed to you monogamously.

pretty normal response I'd say for a person that only knows monogamy and is committed to you... it would be a tough transition and a complete shock to them.

@thelovelywoman I have talked about and thought about the idea of an open marriage and have read stories written by a wife that is currently in one and has been married for many, many years.

That said, I ONLY ONCE had a relationship that was anything like that, in that she and I shared literally everything about our life, our bodies and sex life, current, past and hopefully the future, and I will forever lament the fact that we did not marry.

My only fear of an open marriage is LOSING the one I love to someone else in the process, and the one I spoke about above, they never seemed to have that fear or doubt.

My one close friend, (not wife) and I seem to be comparable in most respects, and honestly I don't know what would make each of us appreciate the other more?

Sounds crazy, I know, but no two people ever have a 100% compatible marriage/relationship.

Open marriage is not extreme. Stop hating people that are non-monogamous. All monogamous relationships have the same one rule that is often betrayed. All non-monogamous relationships have different rules negotiated and in my experience those rules are more often committed to and complied with. They are more often to be moral commitments, in my experience.

Some days I bother fighting about this, some days I don't. I guess this is a fighting day for me.
