Why do the women in my family tend to die before the men?

I had one great grandmother who died after her husband. My great great grandmother died before I was born but my great great grandpa was still alive. My great grandmother died and my great grandfather is still alive.

My grandpa died before I was born, but my grandmother remarried (she got divorced before he died) and she died but my step grandpa is still alive (though he is a few years younger but not much) my other grandparents are still alive.

A lot of my aunts and uncles the husbands outlived the wives and old cousins. There are a few where the husbands died first. But most husbands outlived the wives.

This is by the way on both sides of my family. On both of my parents sides as well. My dads parents and moms parents.

Bad habits, maybe? Or perhaps the idea that 'women tend to live longer than men' is just feminist propaganda? Could be. From my experience, some of the men in my family actually live longer than the women.

I’ve also heard that men who work outdoors and do strength training consistently tend to outlive women by a significant margin, even if women maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.

It could be a mix of genetics, lifestyle, stress, or even pure coincidence.

Families sometimes fall into patterns that look meaningful but aren’t caused by one single thing.

Well that could possibly be a factor. Both sides of my family has a history of heart conditions. But oddly enough so do the men.

Oh yes, women do live longer than men, on average.
Married men also live longer than single men, on average.
Single women also live longer than married women, on average.
These are all established facts.
