If your birthday falls between November 21 through January 31, you know the pain of having a holiday season birthday.
1. Your birthday is never about you
If your birthday quite literally falls on an exact holiday every year, your birthday is never just about you no matter how hard people around you may try to give that illusion, and let's face it, many of them don't even try or acknowledge it's "your birthday." It's about Grandma Gene flying in, and needing to rent a crib for your new cousin, and last minute sales, and the frantic cooking of the turkey. Everyone is having a party or preparing for one, not just your special day.
2. Finals
There is nothing like having to take three final exams on your own birthday that you can't get out of every single year. Yup...you can try and party, but you run the risk of having to stumble into a final exam in the morning worth half your entire grade for the semester totally exhausted, or heaven forbid, hung over. And it's not like you can really invite people over for the weekend, because finals last 2-3 weeks, which means no one is available to help you celebrate until after they're over, and by the time they're over, everyone is off for their own vacations.

3. You can't go anywhere
Even if you just wanted to escape for a little vacation within the vacation season for your birthday, flights, hotels, rental cars, attractions, etc. are all super expensive because of the season. There is no way you can just last minute book anything unless you want to crap out a golden egg to pay for it.
4. No one can come
There are always two things aside from finals that keep people from coming to your birthday party, and that is the weather which is usually too cold or too snowy, or people already having to make travel plans to get there for the actual holiday. It's always, we're going to see you in 3 weeks or we just saw you at Christmas, that guarantees you'll be eating cake alone again this year.

5. Seasonal Everything
You cannot escape handmade turkey wreaths, New Years Streamers, or the thousands of Christmas decorations. It's a daily reminder that you are going to be the least important thing on your birthday because it's about all the rest of it. Add to that holiday theme birthdays if you're sooo not a fan.
6. Combo Gifts
Happy ThanksMerryNewBirthday To You! Yup, if you've ever heard the following phrases, you know the pain of it all. "This is your Christmas and birthday gift." "We're going to hold off until Christmas to get you a gift." "We figured since your birthday was so close, that we'd just get you the one gift." "You don't need two gifts." "I'm so glad your birthday is around Christmas, so we only have to get you the one gift." Or being gifted on your Christmas birthday with something so seasonal, like a Christmas sweater, that you can do nothing with after that day.

7. The best stuff is unavailable
January pool party...too cold, and the pools are closed for the winter. Birthday rental place...is being rented out now at a higher price for holiday parties. Theme parks...it's too cold to go and they are only ever open on certain days in the winter season when everyone is unavailable to go of course. You're pretty much guaranteed to be somewhere inside someone's house last minute with something thrown together because no other place could be found to throw your party.
8. You're treated as if you're selfish
Why is it everyone else can be treated like a king/queen on their birthday, people change their whole plans to be with them or surprise them, they get gifts without being questioned, they can pick their own birthday theme, there is no getting some lame combo gift which is really just "one gift," they get to go hang out with their friends and have parties, but if you, on your own birthday during this season, ask for the same kindness and fun to be returned to you, you're treated as if you're selfish for wanting those things too or some kind of ingrate. Yes, it's a holiday or somewhere in the holiday season, but all you want is just some little teeny tiny acknowledgement that its your birthday and just a little bit of care and celebration for you, thrown your way...that's it.
