I have a few that come to mind. First would be my 21st birthday. Then boyf now hubs was in a mood. Made the date quite unpleasant. I made the mistake of going to a place that served family style and hubs and I had to share a meal. He shot down everything I wanted and point blank said there were only 3 things he would consider. We ordered one of those because I was a pushover back then. Big surprise I did not care for it. I ended up ordering a green bean side dish and that was my birthday dinner. It was such an upsetting night to me I kept having to take breaks to cry in the bathroom. When he dropped me off at home I was in tears.

My friends took me out later (I didn’t want to go, but went anyway) and I got trashed. Shittiest birthday ever.

My 13th birthday wasn’t great either. I had planned a murder mystery party. Everyone was assigned a character and was to really get into it with a costume and everything. But the thing with a murder mystery party is that everyone needs to be there in order to begin. Well, 30 min in and 2 of my friends still have not shown. An hour in, one finally shows up and tells us the other one told her to tell me she would be late. An hour and a half in we FINALLY get to start my party. My parents hovered the entire time (so embarrassing) then since the color theme of the murder mystery was black and white and gold I got an ice cream cake in those colors. Unfortunately black frosting turns mouths black as well. My parents freaked out convinced a bunch of parents were going to be angry at them for their kids having black mouths. We were then instructed not to eat the cake. Then my friend Maureen took a bite and my dad yelled at her for eating the cake! I was mortified. I cried myself to sleep and vowed never to have a birthday party again.
It was my 13th birthday and my best friend who had just moved across the country the year prior came to town to see me and stay at my house for a few days. So she comes into town everything’s going great we go out to a nice dinner with my family to an EXPENSIVE classy restaurant, we’re having a great time taking pictures giggling like the typical dumb bimbo 13 year olds. My sister who I never see shows up with a bouquet for me and even one for my friend. All is going nice, we get home and it’s like 10 pm and she still was supposed to be at my house the next few days. I haven’t even opened my gifts yet and she goes,” I think I’m going to have **** pick me up and stay with her the rest of the weekend” (totally out of nowhere! 5 minutes earlier she was saying we should get snacks for a movie marathon) and then I started crying bc she kept telling me that she didn’t really want to be friends with me anymore and how she was just going to leave. She then calls her mom who flew in with her ( her moms was a raging alcoholic who was intoxicated and unresponsive that night) then she calls the friend that she was going to stay with and her mom was unable to drive that night too ( it was almost midnight at this point) so then at 1 AM some random man I’ve never met comes to pick her up. And I never speak to her ever again but I find out through mutual friends that she turned into a crack head stoner druggie who was a pregnant alcoholic at 14 and got shipped off to rehab centers across the country time and time again year after year.🤣
My dad screamed at my sister until she ran away on her birthday.
I usually just hang out by myself and try not to think about it.
I don't like my birthday anyways. So far, 8 years since I graduated, I'm about to be 25, and I have gotten absolutely nowhere.
It's just a reminder that I thought I was going to be somewhere better by now.
My 50th. I spent it with my mother who was diagnosed with dementia. She was totally unaware it was my birthday. I also learned that a line of credit I arranged for her on her home was denied (long story). I did nothing. It was just like any other day. My friends have a misconception that I am more stoic than I actually am.

I was in China visiting family and my cousins and uncles decided they did not like me so ghosted me on my birthday to do their own thing and the only person who showed up for my birthday other than the people I was living with, was a family member who wanted to date me.
Well could be the year an idiot almost burned us to death on our shared birthday... Or this past birthday shared with same "person" and was even worse than that time🤷🤦
My family made me cry on my birthday twice. Once when I was a child and once when I was 14
It was my 28th birthday. I spent it alone with no cake and no gifts. It probably was a pleasant summer day but all I remember is a gloomy lonely day glued to my desk. I got a few phone calls and messages but I spent the entire day alone studying for a shitty exam, which was taking place right after my birthday. At that time I thought I would have a make up birthday party after everything was over. I ended up failing the exam and 2-3 days after the exam my dad got really sick and spent almost an entire month in the hospital. I had to take care of him by myself which was a really scary and horrible time. It's all a blur but in my memories it's one nightmarish long birthday!
It’s extremely hard to watch someone be unhappy when you go to so much effect.
But again, it can be as funny AF.
My sister threw the biggest tantrum at her 16th birthday party, because some of her friends were late. She proceeded to yell from another room, that the current guests were ‘the crap guests’. Lol 😂 damn if only walls weren’t so thin! I awkwardly offered the ‘crap guests’ drinks and food.
Well for me it was last year’s birthday without a doubt because it was at the height of the pandemic and I couldn’t celebrate it because of the lockdown. For someone else, I had a friend in high school who’s mother cancelled her birthday party because she did something that pissed the mom off.
Well for my 8th birthday, I invited 20 of my friends but it was kind of last minute. It was held at the town bowling alley and my mom ordered 20 burgers and 20 fries before it started. Only 2 people ended up showing, so it was kind of embarrassing that my mom ordered all that food 😅😅 with only 2 friends to eat it
Never really seen any bad birthdays but if I had to choose, it must be the time when the whole family went to a restaurant to celebrate my granny's birthday. The food was SO bad... completely inedible. We even had flies in our soup🤢🤢🤢
We got refunded and went somewhere else tho
When my daughter was 7 or 8 years old we had a birthday party for her and invited 6 or 8 of her little friends from school. One of these "friends" convinced the others not to go to the party. My poor daughter was crushed.
Its hard to figure out which was the worse birthday for me
When I was 9 my older sister said she had a surprise for me. We went for a long drive driving pass a beach but we ended up going to a prison to visit my uncle who didn't even remember me.
When I turned 21 I was with my family and we had shots but my mom was a party pooper and made me cry, she was yelling and she kicked out my sister.
All the other birthdays was mainly just staying at home bored mainly because a family friend has the same bday as me and my oldest sister goes spend time with her since its her husband's sister and I end up getting mine celebrated on some other day or even worse she just spends 1 hour and leaves so I feel like im not worth any time to celebrate
My 33 was the worst. I got dumped by my girlfriend three weeks earlier and got some very bad news related to her on that day.
Anyway as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to NOT put huge expectations on bdays. Just a bad idea. For example I’ve only gotten laid once on my bday in my entire life (when I turned 35) with then new young beautiful girlfriend and it was wonderful. But all through my 20s I got a shot down and/or if I was dating a girl the timing wasn’t good (she would be on her period or someone other issue).
However as a man I find the expectation of being “special” on your bday is not respected in society. Not as much as vice versa. I remember talking to a buddy of mine who was planning to hold out on breaking up with his girlfriend until after her bday. I don’t think women generally take this same consideration when the roles are reversed once they make a decision to split.
Me being yelled at because I was the devil's child... Apparently. It was 1 of my friend's birthdays and their parents just came to me and straight-up yelled at me to get out or they will call the priest and make their child's birthday into an exorcism. Bitch I only has a stutter and I had trouble in school because my teachers hated my older brother so they hated me so they gave me bad grades. I fucking hate their parents and them for not sticking up for me.
The 13th birthday after I lost my dad. My mom cries all day long. My brother quits school. Sister turns obese. We lost our house. Move to relatives. New relatives every week. No one wants us in there and no one remembers my birthday. I don't have enough money to even buy a candle. I was crying on someone else's sofa and thinking about my 12th birthday with a big cake and my father's smile.
Sometimes we can't realize how much life gives us on ordinary days.
My 21st birthday. My family could not make the trip, my girlfriend had a covid scare, and none of my friends could make the hour drive from my first college Because I was unlucky enough to have a Monday birthday. I ended up playing a horrible round of golf and getting drunk by myself at a bar near my apartment
My worst birthday was when I turned 13. My parents ordered a pizza for my birthday dinner and the pizza delivery guy got robbed at gunpoint for the pizzas.
The year my husband at the time woke me up At 7 in the morning gave me a birthday card then promptly went back to bed and left me all alone till he woke up at mid day the next day.
Probably mine. No one remembered it last year with the pandemic going on. Celebrated it alone
My 16 birthday,
I usually tell my family that I don't want any birthday parties, but on my 17 birthday the held a surprise birthday party, It pissed me off, but I still pretend to be happy with it, beti didn't wanna seem ungrateful
Mine was yesterday, it was 8 pm before I remembered and I went to bed at nine.
My #8 birthday. I had a terrible day at school and it also rained that day. My parents should have let me skip school on my birthdays
