+1 yNone. I don't like being in debt to anyone. I despise debt. I pay cash, and sometimes I use my bank card every once in awhile. I just save my money for things I want/need, and I always live within my means. Life's pretty simple and worry-free if you make it that way.
I don't like credit cards. I think they're awful and it allows people to spend beyond their means. Credit cards also enable behaviours within a certain portion of our society that shouldn't allow them access to credit cards to begin with, because they aren't financially responsible enough to have one. Just look at the massive amounts of personal debt and insolvency there is because of them. Yet banks and credit card companies will gladly sign anyone up to have one. I also don't like the concept of credit ratings/FICO scores either. I'm just not a fan of credit cards. I don't need one.

I have two. It's smart to have credit cards, if you can control your spending. Using credit cards can protect you when you buy things online. And you can get money back on purchases. And it's a really good idea to use a credit card for buying gas. I once put my debit card in the gas pump, and it didn't work. So I pulled up to another pump. That pump worked, but the machine said I didn't have any money. What happened is that the first pump put a $200.00 hold on my card. I raised holy hell and called the gas station. (which was closed when I tried to get gas) They said I would get my $200 back in 3-5 business days. Nice. So what if I was a long way from home? Now I'm stuck somewhere for 3-5 business days. I called my bank and they said to always use a credit card at the gas pump. But at the least, try and get gas at stations that ask you if your card is credit or debit. Then if it is a debit, lie like a rut and say it's credit. This tip came from the bank.

+1 y2 through my bank that I only use about 3 times a month maybe. Then a Costco credit card just for buying stuff at Costco and then a Target credit card just for Target.

+1 y3. One for continuing charges because its a pain to change that if the number gets stolen. One for normal use. One for travel and sketchy places and I expect to have to change then # every few months.
I never keep an ongoing balance, autopay every month. So it convinenet and some of the cards have really nice perks.

+1 yOne; I hate buying things with credit cards.
I only have that one because I was originally using it to help build my credit rating when I was 18. I've always kept a low balance on it, and have paid in full every month for 20 years.

+1 yI have one each of the major credit cards. I use them like cash and pay off the bill in total at the end of each month. Credit cards have built-in safeties... you're not responsible for unauthorized purchases, for example.
