How are grocery prices treating you?

They used to say if you want to save money, eat at home. That's what I will be doing today: making a simple meal... ginger fried rice with chicken. But how much is it really saving me? Let's take a look, shall we?

Let's get the ingredients.

We will start with the 1 pound, 2 ounces frozen sticky rice for $5.29 (used to be $5 even a few weeks ago)

Then the off-brand canned chicken for $4 (because let's be honest, $3.99 is REALLY $4 in disguise)

Then we will grab a small bottle of ginger dressing for $5 (again, $4.99 is really $5 in disguise)

So all in all, around a pound of made-from-home fried rice with chicken is $15!

I mean, yeah, you can say it feeds 2 people, but a supposed "cheaper" rice meal with canned meat at home is $15. Think about that! Imagine if I were to have purchased fresh chicken from the meat section. Imagine if this were a more elaborate meal, how much more would that cost?
