Guys, how would you react if your girlfriend lost the promise ring you got her?

So before my boyfriend left for basic training he got me this $200 promise ring. Keep in mind when he left we had only been together for 2 months.

I live in Hawaii so when I went to the beach I took off the ring and put it in my shorts pocket which was in my backpack but I didn't close my backpack. We have barracuda so shiny objects are no good for going to the beach. When I cam back and looked for the ring to put back on, it was gone.

I tried writing him a letter but I haven't heard anything back. He may not have gotten it but it's been killing me cause I feel so bad, I feel like a horrible girlfriend. I need some honest opinions.

The ring may be gone but ring or no ring I'm keeping my promises. I love him and he loves me. I just feel terrible, I know if anything he may forgive me but I don't know if I will ever forgive myself.

I would be mega upset. But I would forgive her, because its not the ring I care about in the relationship, its the promise I gave her. that's something she could never loose. It also depends on the money situation. If it took him ages to save up for or something he may be more upset. But keep saying your sorry. He should forgive you. besides. the ring may be gone, but the love is still there. Its obvious because you are worrying this much about it :) but again. If he is upset and says stuff. you better take it. And you better not complain, because you did loose a promise ring.

my girlfriend lost promise ring I gave her yesterday... I had told her I would be mad if she lost it a long time ago. so she was crying a river till I told her this "a ring is just a ring it a object not love ... the love you show me has locked a promise ring on my heart I hope I did same to you :) SHE replied "but but but it meant a lot to me baby...:( especially since you gave it to me on my birthday...:( I love you ...you did baby..<3

uh if it was $200 then there shouldn't be a reason to take the ring off really.

I had never taken my exs promise ring off but I didn't give it back neither. I had gotten 3 promise rings from him because we had argued over the first one.

I had missed placed it and he really got upst because it was $200 lol and it was $35 and I flushed it because he was a jerkoff about it

I don't take it off unless its at the beach. The last thing I want is to be attacked by a barracuda so all jewelry comes off.

Here is the deal. If he is in basic training, the last f***in thing he is worried about is that promise ring. His days suck, all of them. He is just trying to get into a rhythm and get the hell out of there. Trust me. He has enough to worry about. Also, receiving letters in boot camp is routine, however... it takes forever to get mail out of boot camp so be patient. But, if your guys' relationship can't get past a material item like a lost ring... then your sh*t is doomed from the start.

Sounds like to me, the ring was stolen. Especially when the open backpack which is inviting to a thief. Yes, if my girlfriend lost her ring, the relationship would be over because to me she obviously doesn't care about it that much.

Thanx I appreciate the honesty. Doesnt make me feel better but I appreciate it. I do care about it more than anything and that's why I was so devastated and its why I'm so worried now.

I never take it off except in that case and that ring meant the world to me because it was a symbol of what we promised each other. I searched for it for hours and cried for days.

Actually he doesn't have one. He's at basic with a bunch of dudes, he was more worried about me breaking the promise. Which, ring or no ring, I plan on keeping.
