For sure it means he likes you. I wouldn't put any pressure on the night, just bring your A+ game, holidays are a big time for anyone. If you put yourself out there and actually want to spend it with someone, then it means something. I'm sure he isn't just "trying to kiss you" cause if you have been dating for 6 weeks, I am assuming you have done more than that.
I would never spend several hours with a girl that is not my girlfriend. As the clock ticks so much can go wrong with me. Hahahaha.
