Daylight Savings Time Messed Me Up

So I'm awake an hour "early" because my alarm went off at the usual time, and now I have to wait an hour to go where I need to go. Uhhhh! Daylight savings time...I shake my fist at thee! And the thing is, tv reminded me, the radio reminded me, hell, even Facebook reminded me, and yet here I am...This isn't the worst of it though. One fateful day of my life, Daylight Savings Time screwed me.

A few years back on one beautiful Sunday, as per usual, I strolled into work early for the calm before the storm. I had about 30 employees coming in, and 50 volunteers for the morning, so I needed the peace and quiet before they were all in my face. But something strange was going on in the neighborhood. I was early, so I expected the quiet for a while, but looking at my desk clock, 30 minutes later, this was too much quiet. I stood up, and opened up the window and I didn't see anybody. My usual early birds weren't in the staff room or milling about. Even the gift shop manager, being a military child, and extremely rigid about being on time, was no where to be found.

I sat back down. Got back up. What was happening here? For some reason, my brain cut to the story an employee told me a long time ago about an old job she worked where all the staff revolted due to poor treatment and didn't show up to work. Was this, that? No, couldn't be that. We treated everyone like family, so I started to think, you're spiraling here. After about 40 minutes, I called my boss who did not pick up and left a message which would haunt me later, about how no one was at work, and I was worried because we were going to be opening soon, and if I called back, could he come in a little earlier to help out and call the operations manager to make suer we could even open with I was guessing what little staff would potentially show up (CRINGE!)

After he didn't answer (because he would have definitely been at church at the time), I proceeded to call the first 4 employees on the call list for the day, and none picked up. Again, I left more messages, each more tense than the last. Finally someone picked up the phone, and by this time I was really upset and on edge. I mean, how could they just not show up like this? I was going to be the manager of none that day and heads would roll "Yes, hi, just wondering where you are, because we've got about 10 minutes until we open. Why are you not here yet? At least you should know to call and let me know if something has happened and I'm hoping that's not the case, but we really need you to come in for your shif---" The voice cut me off. "I'm at home, and I was asleep because it's daylight savings time, remember? You told us to remember not to come in early." Silence. Moment of recognition. Putting the puzzle pieces together. My eyes widened. "Wh--? No. Oh my God!" I started thinking of all the messages I'd left for everyone. "I...am...so...sorry...(nervous laugh), I'll see you later, k, thanks, bye."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! What an idiot. It all made sense. The embarrassment washed over me immediately, especially since I had been the one for three solid days telling everyone on repeat, that daylight savings time was coming. Having too much time to kill now, I left, went down the street to a Target, and then came back at the new "regular" time. When staff arrived, everyone got their digs in, my manager especially. "So you needed me to come in 2 hours early did you?" All the people I'd left messages for were laughing at me and replaying the messages. It was a solid week before that story became yesterdays news. I still cringe thinking about how panicked I was that I had no staff and wondering about mutinies and revolts.

Welp, now that I've wasted some time, re-set all my non-computer connected clocks, and it's now the time I need it to be, I can go where I need to go. So what's your favorite, Daylight savings Time messed me up, story?
