Saving Mother Earth

In my religion, the earth is honored and considered quite a sacred thing. Through my eyes, divinity it is all around us on Earth. Life is everywhere. That's why the Earth has been called "mother" because she gives birth to new life all around, whether its fish, plants, trees, grasses, insects, reptiles, mammals, etc. Whether or not you give reverence to the Earth the same as me, I'm sure you can agree that without this planet, none of us would be alive. Our mother Earth provides us with the food, water, and air we need in order to survive. Before humans became so technologically advanced, the earth was cleaner, more pure. Animals that we shared this world with had their habitats. With resources, we took only what was needed and was not too excessive. We were more thankful to our Earth for helping us stay alive. But these days, things have changed. We have been taking the habitats of different species and driving them toward extinction.

Do you think its fair for the animals? How would you feel if your habitat was taken away and you ended up having to die? Our animals are our brothers and sisters because we are all children of the Earth. They have their lives just as we do. They eat, sleep, play, fight, and we do too. Like I said in another myTake, they have emotion too. I have an example of it in the take "I Am Angry... Here's Why". If you haven't read it already, don't think that I'm going against everyone in my writing because of my views on things. I understand both sides to the things I talk about.

Anyway, it is not fair to the animals that we are taking away their habitats. What ways are we doing this? By taking down trees, polluting the waters, etc. And what sucks about this too is that we need this stuff for ourselves as well but we are getting too excessive with it, and running out. With the trees, they provide us with shade and give us the oxygen that is essential to us. But when we take the trees down, the area gets hotter, and oxygen lessens. We need that air! There's barely any virgin forests left on our country because of how much we've been taking the trees.

As for water, we have been making our waters dirty from garbage and other waste being dumped. This is what kills marine wildlife as well. Water like this can make us sick. Even though there are water treatment plants here for treating our tap water, we still have chlorine in the water, therefore its unsafe to drink straight from the tap. When it comes to our air, it isn't just getting rid of trees that's making the problem. Its the burning of wastes and chemicals, smoke (in general), really any type of chemical thing that evaporates into the air. Cars emit harmful gases, any aerosol cans spray the chemicals into the air, even something as little as painting your nails with nail polish is already bad enough! We are thinning the atmosphere and its making mother Earth get hotter.

Saving Mother Earth

Now nature does naturally pollute itself at times, like when there are erupting volcanoes though, spewing ash and smoke into the air. But we don't need to make things much worse. In my rituals I use incense, but use some instead of the whole cone or incense stick, because of the smoke. And I only use the type that is made from the real thing that it smells like, instead of the chemical type. We are also taking up space on the earth with landfills. Really we are taking up space on the earth in many ways, whether its more homes being built or cemeteries growing, but when it comes to landfills, not only are we taking up space but the garbage also emits harmful gases. It can also have liquids that get into the ground and affect the groundwater. Not a pretty sight.

Saving Mother Earth

We are low on the resources for energy, such as fossil fuels. Pipelines sometimes get the issue of leaking and the raw fuels get into the ground. We are getting more and more dependent on technology these days, but it will be a big problem if we eventually run out of energy fuels and we can't use any technology. Think about it, our essentials would be gone. We could not use vehicles (whether or not they're electric), in hospitals it will be much more difficult to treat patients, or even diagnose. it will be more difficult for us to keep cold food fresh. Any extras, such as phones and computers won't work. Battery powered things could still work but not for too long because we'd eventually run out of batteries since more would not be able to be made. I don't know about you, but if there is a such thing as "the end of the world", I see it happening through how much we are destroying this world, therefore the act destroys us. We are dependent on resources but are not using them as wisely, and we are polluting the essential things we need to survive.

Some people say that global warming isn't caused by humans, that its just a natural cycle of the Earth. Yes, the Earth does have its cycles, and I can see how its possible that the Earth could be warming by itself too, but we are speeding up the process too much. We don't want our planet to look like the sun now do we? Currently there are ways of trying to help the planet get better, but they all have some sort of a downside. Even things turned electronic, like cars, still have the problem of having to burn coal to get the energy needed to run them. More ways of getting cleaner energy needs to arise soon before its too late, but as of right now, each and every one of us can do something to help things out. There are many more ways than what is listed below, but here are some examples:

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

We all know this one, whether its from teachers in school, new age hippies, any fellow environmentalists, etc. You can get pretty creative with reusing old things instead of letting it take more space in a landfill. If you don't want to reuse, and if its still in pretty good condition, donate your stuff to a thrift store. Depending on where you live, you can take it to special places that are assigned for recycling.

When using water, reduce amount used.

When you are brushing your teeth, don't keep the water on. This helps the water bill too. Plus think about this, some people in other countries don't even have much water. Don't take advantage of having a ton of water and waste it all. Those poor families would be happy to even have that bit of extra water you waste.

Turn off stuff when they aren't being used.

Like when leaving a room, don't leave the light on, even if your coming back to the room a short time later. Turn off that TV.

Eat organic, healthier type food.

Now I know you may wonder how this could help mother Earth. Before there was a such thing as prepackaged foods and GMOs, we ate purely from the planet. We ate the fruits and veggies, and hunted for our meats. Nowadays so many people choose to eat foods that are already packaged, that have tons of unnatural preservatives, and some that are even genetically modified. Our bodies aren't made for stuff like this. I mean yeah its ok if you want to eat some pizza or binge on that bag of nacho cheese Doritos, but eating mostly chemicals and GMOs too often is unhealthy for us, and can be unhealthy for the planet. Food waste that animals may eat can be dangerous since their bodies aren't made for consuming chemicals. Its safer if its the organic type.

Remember, we all come from this Earth. And in the end, we return to it (meaning death). We depend on this planet for our own survival. Our mother Earth has cared for us for thousands of years, and its time to show our love back. Momma Earth does not belong to us, we belong to her. Do not leave a bad mess for our future generations to find. Because we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children. Show your love to your mother.
