Partying... What makes it so fun exactly?

I'm not really a party guy... I don't understand the fun in all that it is. I don't drink or do drugs. I think doing drugs is definitely bad for your health and its just nasty IMO, and I'm not legal drinking age, but I would never do it in a party setting or to get trashed. I can see myself drinking wine and stuff though.

But I just don't see how getting together with a bunch of people and drinking until you practically pass out is fun? What's so fun about getting drunk or high? It only has negative effects on your health and you wake up the next morning feeling terrible so how is that fun?

The only parties I've been to are just a bunch of friends getting together at someones house, blasting music and ordering pizza and socializing with each other, no drugs or alcohol, I've been to one like that but it wasn't like a big party or anything.

Idk... I just personally like to remain in control at all times and want to stay away from anything that can do me harm or harm to my future or do something stupid I'd regret.

How is partying fun from the perspective of someone who parties? I don't think I'm missing too much personally, just me... I don't want to resort to certain things just to fit in. I'm cool with who I am, but just wondering...

I think "partying" I used in the wrong context, but most people go to drink... I like to go to parties to have fun, so I guess I used it wrong way, but I guess what I was getting at more was "drinking..." I love to socialize and have a great time tho.

- We don't all do that. There are plenty of people that drink socially at parties, and play drinking games... socially, and make love socially.

- If you'd like I can pull up 10+ articles about positive benefits to drinking responsibly. Also, 1/4 people are fully immune to the affects of a "hangover".

- Partying is fun because people do it ; in the same way that sports are fun. You my friend are missing out. Because you haven't joined a community that will grow as you grow. (to a point) What is this about fitting in ? Explain to me the concept and I'll give you a more detailed response.

With all this, it's a choice to drink. But partying? Partying is natural to all of us. Dancing singing running around, that's what separates us humans from other animals.

Don't have anyone pressure you to drink. I'm on a cyclic medication that disallows alcohol ingestion one week /month. I still party, I just drink water or pop !

I just mean, people who are insecure about themselves and just go and party so they feel that they fit it... I know some people are like that.

But what do you mean exactly by growing with a community as it grows? I mean I definitely think its important to be exposed to things in life to help you grow as a person, but I don't know, I know to stay away from drinking at the moment... Not legal age (again) but I not saying I won't do it in moderation. What about college parties? Police? etc.

#1 alcohol is a drug -- it's a pet peeve of mine when people don't call it what it is just because it's a legal OTC drug

Partying is fun because it is socializing and letting loose, and that is how people stay sane. If you are all business and no leisure you will go nutty in no time. I like to go to get-togethers/parties because it is fun and relieves stress, and I drink beer when I go but I keep it limited to 6 at max. You gotta watch out about that control-freak part of your personality because that will lead to stress every time you are in an uncontrolled environment, and then you will develop hypertension, tachycardia, anxiety, etc...and that will kill you faster than partying ever will. You should handle your business when you need to but you should also be able to have fun and have "you" time.

I always get asked by other girls and guys do you drink and I say No (caz its the turth I've never seen the need to, I have taken a sip to try the taste but didn't like it at all) Then the second question is usally, do you like going out and dancing? and I say yeah I love dancing because I love it I find it fun. Then they always comment on how they wish they had the confidence to go and dance without needing drink (im a shy person by the way), I just say try it it may look difficult but try it once and its great, your in control, you remember the night and the overall buzz. its one of the best feelings in the world. Now I'm not out every night or anything but I do like going out on occasion and when I do I enjoy it. I like the hanging out with friends, like you said in the house listening to music etc, I have now gone to university and surrounded by people who drink and etc.. but I'm still me and I'm comfortable like that and no one sees the need to change me caz I don't believe I need to change me. ^^

I do understand by the way that not everyone drinks till they pass out, most people drink in moderation and drink a little to give themselves confidence I don't have a problem with that but I hate seeing people who drink till they collapse.

When people think of partying they think of drugs and alcohol at someones house.
Thats not all that partying is.
There's insane clubs, hype ass electronica concerts, sitting around a bonfire with a bunch of people, beach parties, house parties, bar hopping. There's so many different ways to party and you don't have to get shitfaced. You can, socialize, feel the adrenaline, dance, fall in love, not care about anything in the spur of the moment. Some parties people miss out on because they don't really understand the concept of partying.
There's a huge difference between hitting up a crazy paint party electronica concert and going crazy or finding a great club to dance in every now and then and sitting at someones house getting messed up everyday of the week or every weekend whilst you lose all your responsibilities. Partying can be a fantastic experience if you know how to handle it. It's just a part of being young and carefree and silly while you can.

I personally don't see anything fun in it either. Yeah before I used to go to them but to dance but that's it. It would be really rare if I was caught drinking, but now I just don't see a point. Before my boyfriend and I got together he would party also but he has stopped now too. He does want to go to a party every now and then and when I ask him why he says "idk to drink". It's like...first of all, do you really need to go to a party to drink? Buy your own damn alcohol and lets get drunk together. Idk. We're different when it comes to parties but the only BIG reason I don't like going to them is because we tend to go to parties his friends know of and then I just feel awkward because I'm shy. But yeah...that's my opinion.

It not that its fun its just that its something that you do in college I try not to do it to much but when I do iu drink a lot and then don't feel very good in the morning. Its more fun to like do at a club where you can dance in stuff rather then in like a dorm room or playing beer pong. I often regret the stuff that I did that night before and most people just do it because they think they are cool.

How would you feel about a guy that didn't party, in terms of datability? Just wondering...

I'm kinda looking for a relationship, and I want a beautiful girl as much as the next guy and someone who treats me right, faithful, who gets along well, etc. And I guess I wouldn't mind too much if I really liked the girl if she partied a little bit, but as long as she was responsible about it.

I would prefer not, but at this age, I'm 19, its hard not to find a girl that parties a bit...

Ya that's very true I party a little bit when I could but not a lot because it gets in the way of things. See my boyfriend and I don't usually party together because I'm in college and he's not, he's an hour away from me and only comes up to see me once in a great while. I don't have a problem at all with a boyfriend that doesent party but you have to remenber if you don't go with your girl then other guys are gonna hit on her and the stakes go up once people are drunk that she will cheat and many times my boyfriend sounds worried

About me and he tells me to be careful and everything. I would never do anything but its just the whole idea that scares him. Would you go to the party with her and not drink or anything or not go at all?

I would probably go with her if anything. I would go and just have water or a soda or whatever... and stay by her side the whole time. I would rather spend time with her elsewhere tho. But I'd get a little worried if she were to go without me.

So basically a guy that doesn't party is totally cool? Would you say that its a turn-on in terms of dating and stuff?

Ya it is a turn on for me but it really depends on the girl. I know people who go to parties and act like they are drinking but I know that they just don't drink and I really respect that very much because they don't act like compete fools like the people who are drinking do. As long as your ok with her partying and she's ok with you not drinking that you guys will be just fine. But I do think you should find a girl that does not drink or party then things will be easier.

But at this day and age, that's very difficult... lol, especially how I went to a public high school, and now am going to college. I don't really know where the best place is to meet the kind of girl I'm looking for.

Well like I said believe it or not some girls in college don't drink you just have to find the good ones because let me tell you they are there. When you get to college you should join clubs and stuff and that's where you will find the nice girls who don't drink. Some people are actually serious about studying they are just a little harder to find.

I don't do drugs or drink either. Seems pointless to go out and "party and have fun," but then get drunk and not even remember what happened the night before.
