I've heard of it, but that's not the only Native American Indian martial art, there is another, called Tushkahoma of Choctaw tribes. Of course, there are some other American martial arts from Central and South America, based on ancient Inca, Aztec and Mayan martial arts, for example Tinku, Bakom and Rumi Maki (Mostly practiced in Peru and Bolivia, not so much in Mexico).

It's possible that every culture has or had some sort of hand to hand combat art. Some arts have been lost. According to certain books, Japan had arts called Tegoi and sumai but their techniques are no longer taught since they got incorporated into Jujutsu.
