I definitely think it can be. Mainly because, the more knowledge we gather, the closer we get to the objective world. And we're not beings that emotionally thrive on seeing the world in an objective way. We often derive happiness, fulfillment, meaning, etc from all of the silly things we love to do & believe. Especially most things that are beneficial for our survival.
We're elements of order in a fundamentally & primarily chaotic universe. And the things we're driven to do are only appealing because of the mirage. Our biological origins. And when we try to piece together a logical conclusion for it all, we just get hit with more questions.
So there's a battle that thinkers have. They have to not let the information they've gathered interrupt their being. Interrupt what they were designed to do. Which is harder for some than others. Especially if you're higher in neuroticism.
And the objective world I referred to is one that is based on many human perspectives. So it's not truly objective. Just the only one that ultimately matters to us at the moment, the only one we're capable of observing & understanding, or the only one that presents itself to us, etc.

I study and research everything. I don't know if it drives you crazy but studying politics will because you will see how everything is going wrong and no one will listen because they are to stuck in their tribe to care and your politicians are far to corrupt so they are not going to fix things even as you watch your society and nation drive off a very obvious cliff all while your helpless to do anything about it. So acquire knowledge in every other subject and your fine, its only society and politics that will drive you crazy.
I think for some things, it can take the mystery and excitement out of them. I found that once I really began scratching the surface of the vast complexity and amount of knowledge, skill, and experience required to be proficient at certain things, I began to burn out and lose my interest in them. It was way more exciting when it seemed simpler and more like a fun hobby, if that makes any sense (not that it can't while you're knowledgeable, but I feel that sometimes the more you know, the less you realize you really know, which sometimes makes you feel less proficient and like you're not going anywhere; if that makes any sense, from someone who is a perfectionist and hates being mediocre or below at anything, and is also very hard on myself).
