I haven't seen paper bags at any of my local stores in years! All the stores in my area only offer plastic bags :|
I used to love paper bags too; they were so practical and had multiple uses. Mind you, plastic bags are okay too. I typically keep them and reuse them when I'm done with them.
I wish paper bags were suitable enough but they aren't. We need the plastic bags because we use them to dispose of all the dog poop & cat litter our pets dump everyday. The plastic grocery bags are helpful in our household. Paper bags aren't sufficient.
Plastic bags are helpful in my household as well & I use them for garbage bags.
Thanks @Static_In_The_Attic for the MHGirl pick. :)
Plastic is terrible. Way to pollute the planet, ya terrorists! LOL.
But no, here in Korea, they charge you for bags. Even if it's just 50 cents to a dollar, no one wants to pay for that BS, so it's a clever way to incentivise people to use reusable bags, which only cost $2 and are really big.
We bring our own bags. The UK is phasing single use plastic bags out, if you want bags they are multi use bags and you have to pay for them. Went I lived in the US I always went for paper, wish we had paper bags in the UK.
Where I live some cities are phasing out single use plastics as well & I just learned to keep a few extra bags in my car in that case.

I'd rather paper with handles, because stronger than plastic, easier for me, but, always forget to use paper, most paper bags at stores don't have the handles and I always forget the 2 bags I have, then, I think, what's even the point of bring my 2 bags, it's just 2, I need way more than 2.
I'd much rather they do not keep making paper bags because of trees. Since they already have the bags, I will use, if they have handles, and like you said, not raining out
Paper bags are nicer, as long as they have handles like the ones in the pic. But the ones without handles are really hard to deal with, especially if there are several of them.
Some cities have banned plastic bags & I went into a store when it was raining & I said you have to be kidding me I’ll never make it to the car with those paper bags. It was raining so hard one day the fucking bag broke.
I voted plastic cause I reuse grocery bags for holding my weekly garbage and you can’t do that with paper bags
Smart move & I do the same thing when it comes to garbage bags.
I bring my own bags. In my state we’re eliminating plastic bags and using reusable bags instead.
Otherwise there is reusable bags that can be brought before entering self serve checkouts or even free empty boxes if you don’t want to buy a reusable bag/forgot to bring your own.
Plastic. I live in Vancouver bc where it rains for half the year. We dont get winter, we get a rainy season. I've seen what happens to my McDonald's take out when i carry it 2 blocks home in the rain in their paper bag. It ends up on the sidewalk with me holding a soggy bag with no bottom. Id rather nit carry 50 lbs of groceries in those conditions. Plastic withstands the rain
I vary it up depending on what I am buying and how many of each I have at home. We use paper under the kitchen sink for trash and plastic for garbages around the house.
Whichever is worse for the enviroment I will use while eating meatt with lit coal
Both are probably equally worse in someway & when it comes to paper or plastic you should ask for both.
@Static_In_The_Attic better safe than sorry 😂
Mmmm, barbecue! I will bring the throw away styrofoam cooler and plastic picnic table cover.
But I feel bad a little but then I remember that the Celebrities and major politicians that say it’s wrong fly around in private planes burning jet fuel while their three mansions sit empty but yet still heated and cooled so that they can attend a fund raiser with tons of waste afterwards.
Plastic! Beyond the handles, they are much cheaper to produce and saves wood to be used in much better projects. Also who doesn't save plastic bags? I'm a retired drug fiend turned almost alcoholic and even I have a stash of walmart bags in one of my shelves in the kitchen. Oh dear.
I think paper bags with handles are better to handle cause
you buy groceries that are glass jars and you never know if
they will break and some cashiers don't know how to handle
glass jars like Prego Spaghetti Sauce
Most the places around here had to go to paper bags but state mandate or law. Never looked to see what caused it. We always used the plastics bags in our smaller trash cans.
Where I live some of the counties banned single use plastic bags & most of the stores switched over to paper bags & other stores got smart & used thicker plastic bags.
Both of these in the phot are not really good, they seem to be a one time use, at best. I either pack into my backpack or use some reusable sturdy bags.
Plastic can only be recycled so many times until it eventually ends up in a landfill. Personally, I would say paper. Paper can be recycled or composted.
I use whatever is at the store so impartial. Though if I'm going to a store that lets me use bags that I bring myself then I'll use old ones from previous stores.
We have to bring our own bags, they only sell reusable bags at check-out.
Plastic seems easier to reuse as it’s stronger and more flexible. I stock them up for small trash cans like in bathrooms and used them for cleaning up after the dogs we had.
In my state it's paper all the way we do not hand out plastic so it's not available and regardless we have to pay for the bag
I usually bring a laundry basket in my car, and i don't bag, just put the stuff back in cart and put in the basket. easier and no waste. (:
I only go to one food store that offers a choice. I just tell them whatever is easiest and cheapest for them, and invariably, they used the plastic.
I usually bring my own.
Absolutely wonderful.
Usually when I go shopping with my parents they bring their own bags but sometimes my mom uses the paper bags at the grocery store
Plastic or sometimes bring my own
Good deal especially on bringing your own.
I bring my own generally but plastic ones make good bags for the little bins around the house
Paper but plastic is good if I need the bags , I keep forgetting to bring my own
Paper if they have handles
I noticed at my grocery stores the paper bags don’t have handles & when it’s raining there is no way I’m using paper.
I agree
Depends on the store. There are paper and plastic ones nearby.
I was glad to see a return to paper bags. They are recyclable and can be reused and they made great book covers or Halloween costumes. The plastic ones ended up all over the place.
So we get bags at the supermarket that are reusable and biodegradeable. It works very well.
Doesn’t really matter. Just recycle the plastic bags.
Paper bags are just shit, the handles always break and then its not even a bag at thay point
Plastic. Fuck the planet, the planet can save itself!
What ever they are giving away that day. If it's plastic I reuse it for garbage bags. Paper just goes into the recycle.
Single use plastic bags are illegal in my state now. The vast majority of people bring their own reusable bags. Go Maine !
BYOB or Paper then plastic some things are almost impossible to carry in paper bag like frozen items milk bottle. They all get wet and paper bag tears apart.
Please disregard previous opinion. BYOB for frozen freezer like items. And paper bags if needed for other items. Plastic bags only if needed. Keep stackabke fold flat crates in the car trunk for grocery shopping and may be a dolly too. Reusable items are most of the time better option.
Neither: reusable, washable bags.
i use plastic. i only wrap mine in plastic
i wrap abortions in paper
I have a couple of fabric bags for shopping.
Cloth bags. Strong, large, and look cooler.
Better for trash hills
Ya gotta be fukkin kidding me. Who the fuck cares?
Plastic
I bring my own bag
