Do you wish Happy Birthday to a person who does not wish you back the same?

I mean it is a person you do know but you are not friends, or close friends or even see each other, but you uses to be classmates when you were in high school and talk to each other back then. Now this person got married have kids and live in another country. So this person birthday person is today and all the former high school classmates from her former high school for courtesy wish her HB because they know the lady, obviously and she know who they are, but they never were good friends or close friends and besides she lives in anotehr country now, but even if she lives in another country she never wanted to be included in the "Former High school classmates Whatassp chat group" like the rest of the ex classmates. I mean there are other former high school classmates who also end up living in another country with their families but they do keep in touch with the rest and they want to be included in the chat group, unlike this lady.

So on FB this lady is receiving congratulations beacuse she turns the big 50, and she is receiving wishes from ex classmates the ones she never get in touch or is close or anything, they do it for courtesy I guess. And also this lady did not wish you HB when it was your HB anyway.

Will you wish her too just for courtesy or not?

I used to, but after a while I realised that I was putting more importance on other people than myself.

Why should I be forgotten?
It didn't need for people to shower me with gifts, but a phone call, a card, a visit?

Why is that so hard?

And I realise its because well I don't matter to them.

Yeah, sometimes. In fact, I just did about 2 hours ago. I haven't seen or heard from Guy in about 20 years but, as it's his b-day today, I wished him a happy one, even though he never did so for any of my b-days since we met 30 years ago when he used some of our recordings for the soundtrack to his movie.

Even if someone isn’t respectful or nice to me, I’m respectful or nice to them to the best of my ability a lot of the times.

My divorce was amicable and I wish my ex (via text or email) Happy Birthday on her birthday. Some people think that's kinda weird. She usually does the same to me on my birthday.

If I know the people I wish them a happy birthday out of being polite, on the otherside no one wishes me happy birthday but that's ok because I don't celebrate and I wouldn't want people to say it just because I don't like the attention.

I try not to let other people's actions dictate my actions. If I know it's someone's birthday, even if I don't know them real well, I'll wish them a Happy Birthday. It really doesn't matter to me if they reciprocate or not.
