Are some of us lucky to be alive?

I've been vaccinated twice several months ago but I still tested positive just today. My father got infected first, then my mother and both my brother and I at the same time.

However, we're experiencing a mild version; it's more like having cold-like symptoms. If I would've been infected before the vaccines became available (while still recovering from a stomach surgery and physically weak) or if the virus would've started early 2019 while I was suffering from anemia/low blood count (before my surgery) I wouldn't be here now.

My parents take medications from high blood pressure and anxiety. They would've dead without the vaccines and my brother (he only has lost of smell and nothing else) would've been left all alone; without them and without his sister. Does luck play a role sometimes, lucky to be alive?

I doubt you would have been in much trouble vaxed or not , but someone else on the fringe may have ended in hospital , just taking that bed is an horrendous thing , I survived prior to vaxes , like an horrendous cold with the lungs filling , was never going to die or anything , but isolated 14 days , took me 21 days counting getting back to normal activities.
Fully vaxed as soon as it was possible ( have a couple of friends very anti ) , yes you've possibly not saved yourself , but you've probably saved others , maybe people you don't even know , that's the essence of vaccination.

Everyone is lucky to be alive. Just to get to that state, half of you had to outcompete all the other sperm in getting inside an egg first. There are over 200 MILLION sperm in each mililiter of semen. And you got there first. All the others never got to be alive. Never got to see a sun rise. Never got to experience a first kiss, or literally anything else that makes you feel good.

Exactly. Every day above ground is a gift. Unless you're really sick, obviously.

And yet, here I am unvaccinated, being around hundreds of people the entire time in public since 2019, not getting sick, but multiple people I worked with that were vaccinated did get sick. My other unvaccinated co workers that were around them didn't get sick either.

There is no evidence that "it would have been worse" if unvaccinated. And it is the vaccinated that get the variants too.

My aunt has to be on oxygen all day and night after being fully vaccinated and my mom's former supervisor died after the first shot of Pfizer. He was healthy and not sick before that shot and now he is dead from the vaccine. I guess it would have been worse and he somehow would have died twice without the vaccine then right?

Maybe he could've had an extreme allergic reaction to the vaccine and he didn't know that.

But he would have been alive if he had not taken it since he was doing just fine before. Plenty of people have bad side effects and some even death because of the vaccines, but when posting links to those cases online, including the one I mentioned, dishonest social media like Facebook says it is misinformation and threatened to delete my account if I post it again.

Media and social media spread lies and hide the truth.

I've also been noticing a couple vaccinated people that got sick too, including the doctor I saw today. He got both doses and still got the delta variant but like us, the symptoms were mild too. I guess your body is naturally stronger than others. I'll never know who this would've played if we haven't gotten vaccinated

Luck is part of it, but you also don't KNOW that it would have been deadly for you. Yes, it COULD have been, but it's also very possible that it would have just been miserable - like it is for most people - and you'd have recovered. Even though you had other health issues that increased your risk, it was just that: a risk, not a guarantee. Plenty of people medically worse off than you have survived COVID, and some that seemed much better off than you have died from it.

You got a point. Who knows if I would've still recovered even then. Right now I'm doing better and it's just some coughing and a bit of running nose. We were told to avoid going out because we can still infect others. My brother got affected so different. He only has lost of smell but no other symptoms at all, no coughing, no sneezing, none of that. I guess his system is a lot stronger than ours. My grandma, even though she's nearly 80 years old also had the same reaction as my brother, practically asymptomatic.

I'm thinking to think positive but this is the logical explanation. The vaccines helped reduce the impact Covid would've had on them.

Funny how people vaxxed get covid but i never took one shot and im still fine

Same here, my family is completely fine and unvaxxed yet many people who got the shot are getting super sick this winter

I don’t think flock has anything to do with it it’s the fact that you got vaccinated just in time or it would’ve been more severe
