How much would it cost to get a closet like this built inside your house?

That is like a 25x50 foot room. You have cabinetry on all four walls and 2 linear cabinets in an island with a central walk way. If they are made from plywood, bare minimum $225,000 just for the cabinets not installed. To get some guys to come and install them you’re looking at at least another $15,000. You could tack on another $5000 for carpet. You probably have at least 15 light fixtures in there. So you’d need at least two 20 amp circuits installed and an electrician to high box all of those and run the wires to switches and your service panel. So being conservative that’s probably at least $5000 just for the electrical work. You could tack on $50 per light fixture on the low end so that’s another $750. There are drywall soffits all around the edge of the room and over the center island. So that’s like $2,500 for drywall. Tack on another $6,000-10,000 for a paint job. Realistically, there are probably more costs that are hidden in other parts of the picture that are not visible. The lighting figures, cabinetry, carpet, etc are probably not the cheapest options you’d find in a big box hardware store, so you might as well round it up to $300,000 and that’s assuming you actually already have the space for it and things like A/C ducting and doors are already in place and don’t need modification.
Well it really depends on the house your in and the space required and the current condition of the room for remodel. So lets say you already have the space and its an empty space with nothing but Dry Wall up on it... I would say your looking at $30,000 to $50,000 depending on the location of the house and local/state construction costs, price of materials and permits. Over 35% of that would be for the labor.
Now if you had to actually get into busting out walls, and extending rooms and building or adding on to your current house, then you are talking well over $100,000.00 to $200,000 if not more. Again depending on how much work you are talking about, how much additional square footage you would need to add, if you needed to extend the Air Conditioning, if you needed to add additional electricity and how much custom work you talking about with the cabinets and so on and on... in the end those cost could really stack up to well over $200,000.00.
well unless you live in a mansion or rather extremely large house, your entire house will be a closet lol! that's the size of an average home.
It would cost a LOT!! especially if you have other people do it.
You can save a bit however by making it yourself out of peaces of wood, instead of buying one already made, and installing it yourself instead of paying for installation as well.
normal organized closet costs about 2thousand plus three to 4hundred for installation, so that's just the average big to average closet in a normal sized home that's rather big...
so taking that into consideration, the one you posted is GINORMOUS so you're looking at maybe 8thousand plus I would think depending on how much work is actually needed to be done.
my closet for example is not a walk in closet but it's on the bigger side of the non walk in closets. It's pretty long and wide compared to other non walk in closets.
For my organizer I paid 690 on SPECIAL! there were other fancier ones but were over 1k. I was not willing to pay that, I only paid 6plus because it had a coupon and 300 for installation so that's 1k and on special. (non walk in closet) soy can get a rough idea if this closet cost me this, how much more it would cost to get an entire room that large as you posted.
Plust that's not considering the lighting, flooring and paint as another person. mentioned.. so it likely is FAR larger. I for example already had the space for it and lighting I just paid for the organizer and installation.
Something like that with custom cabinetry, assuming it is real wood and not particle board would cost about $1,000 - 1,200per linear foot. Assuming there is about 60 linear ft of cabinetry that would end up close to 60K including labor and hardware. But that doesn't include the electrical cost of the custom lighting and fixtures, carpet paint, trim and furnishing.
I would estimate the finished product would end up costing close to 70K.
Tbh to me anyways, it's not that bad for something like that. I just don't want that color
Of course, the amount of skill and experience someone would need in order build something like that at do it well is well worth 70K

Let's start with the fact that this closet is the size of 2 or 3 bedrooms in a typical house. You probably wouldn't have this closet in a house that was any smaller than 6000 square feet. So, in a reasonably affordable area of the country - say Kentucky - this would be a house that costs around $2M typically. In the SF Bay Area where I live, you're going to pay $4-5M for that house, and if you are talking about a premium location (Oakland hills in the Bay Area or Hollywood hills in LA), it could well be closer 2 10M.
Keep in mind that in most non-rural areas, you can't just convert an existing home however you want - you have to get building permits, and plans that fall outside normal guidelines are often not approved. Converting 3 bedrooms into a closet is something that you may not be allowed to do in a typical suburban house. This is why only huge houses have stuff like this.
Even rural areas need planning permission. You'll need to speak to your local council.
In the US, we have a LOT of rural areas where you can more or less do what you want. But not much of the population lives in those places. Most people live in cities or the suburbs, so they have to deal with planning commissions and permits, and the rules can be quite strict for out-of-the-norm projects.
In addition to FINDING a room of about 12x14' (or building onto existing), if the cabinets are only semi-custom and are made from maple-faced, 9-ply 3/4" plywood, you are probably looking at $20K just for the cabinet purchase. Add your hardware, carpet, paint, installation of extra electric line for the LED ceiling lights, you would be lucky to get by at $50K.
We were having our kitchen redone just before CCP virus hit. Well, a year later, our appliances would have been about 30-40% more, IF they were available which most were NOT. Our cabinets were locked in at $9K: the same cabinets now are $14+K, IF they have a "run" of similar cabinets to build. If not, though, you get to - - - wait!
If you had the room and a friend who could do it for you at mates rates, then it’s not going to be as pricey as most imagine.
there is a lot of blanking going on and most of normal bedroom units put together.
a lot would come down to quality of the wood, bespoke or not furniture
having them house to give that about over to clothes is where the real costs are,
At that rate, why not just become the manager of a local JCPenney? I'd be tapped out with half that much closet! The minimalism I've learned to get by with would make a lot of women scream on the inside.
Smart people do not buy humongous houses - Many rich people buy less than 30% what they can afford, I heard Carlos Slims drives a Honda and takes notes by hand.
Cool
That depends if you actually got the size needed to build that where you live. Also do it yourself or hire people. Can be a handful thousands doing it yourself. Or several more hiring some people.
I don't know, but sheesh. I am in love with that closet
I swear I knew you'd like that and I bet you have enough clothes to fill it too 😉
@Bklynbadboy12 yup.
Especially sneaks.
My sneaks alone would take up an entire wall
Damn I know you have to order them with those little ass feet
@Bklynbadboy12 okay
A carpenter using quality materials would probably charge you upwards of £10k but you could probably do it yourself using budget materials for maybe £500 - £1000.
I hear a bathroom is 10k minimum and kitchens are often 20k. You’re probably lookin at 5-10k
For this closet, the cabinets alone are probably 6500 to 9000. Probably made out of poplar because they are painted. The part that gets it is the accents put in. Then pay the carpenter and the electrian, drywallers, and floor people. It's about $10k on the low side.
@ChiTownLov yea i mentioned minimum above like the bathroom and kitchen are those minimum
Just donate what you don’t wear to charity and save a bundle.
That big? Why? Bigger than some peoples homes. This is organized hoarding. Why do people need so many "thing's"? It can be pretty expensive, unless you do it yourself.
Holy shit that's a huge ass closet. More than I'm willing to spend
Way to much, your looking at a couple of thousand at the bare minimum.
Assuming you already had the space for this closet, and using decent materials, you are looking at an easy 40K.
A fair bit. I'd have to buy the house next door, not to mention the building work, materials and other tradie fees.
Simples...
That's bigger than most people's houses. Why would anyone need a closet like that?
I wanted it that's why I was asking lol...
Half!
A lot of money. But im thinking why i would need one that big..
It would not be possible to build that in my flat - it takes up more space than my flat!
Anyone who wants a closet like that built most likely isn't worrying about the cost.
In other words, if you have to ask you can't afford it.
Ok lol
Y would you think that? a lot of people ask before they buy
If you already have the space, then it's rather cheap, 2k max. Most people wouldn't want to sacrifice that amount of space though.
Assuming they don't have to tear down to make space then probably 3 to 4 grand.
That ain't shit cool
That's what it will cost generally. You didn't mention city, country or what material you would like.
I was giving a general estimate to have something structured the same.
You desire some very expensive material then you can look at in the several thousands of dollars.
Oh I don't know what city yet or country yet. Idc the material just the space and shelves
Cheap material or half decent material and paint then 3 to 5 grand.
That's probably bigger than my fucking living room lol.
Whatever the closet costs, the women's clothes that go inside it cost more.
You're looking anywhere between $10-$20k. Just depends how detailed it is and all the electronics put into it.
According to its size I'd say the same costs as for a tiny house.
You have to have enough space in your house to build it
I wanna say $80K if it’s premium wood and you go with a top end construction company
That's not a closet; that's a clothing store.
LMAO
That's not a closet. That's a retail store lmaooo
A couple grand easily. If not more.
I’m gonna say roughly $25-30,000
Between 30 and 40 thousand
Not sure, but that room looks bigger than my home.
A closet? That is almost the size of my house.
30-50k would be my guess
Thousands and thousands of dollars
Have your parents call me.
I don’t know but it’s a good amount
Depends on the size and location
Too much damn money
LMAO
Probably a kidney...
Too much
I never have to come out a closet that big
A lot of money.
Probably $100k
ask a contractor
About 5k - 10k
My guess is 30,000
Today prices $20,000
I don't know
100k
