If you are looking for a mortgage contacting a mortgage broker is the way to go. On the other hand if you are thinking about buying you might want to hold out because you will be paying up the ass. Maybe you can find a foreclosure & offer the bank holding the title a really cheap offer to take it off of their hands.

You need to go to a bank or credit union. There are also companies that specialize in writing mortgages. You need adown payment and you should have good credit.

My credit is in the excellent category but never bothered with mortgage since I will just inherit family property.
