Term of endearment to me… what do you think?
Do you find the term Redneck offensive? Why or why not?
Term of endearment to me… what do you think?
A redneck is a union miner... They are Democrats. It's funny how Democrats always project themselves onto others. They are primarily from West Virginia. Go look up the Battle of Blair Mountain. In principle they were a bunch of slaves, because they were kept in ram shackle housing, worked to the bone, and paid meagerly in the mine company's own currency which could only be spent in the company store. As a result they were trapped basically as property of the mine and had no means to leave. Most of them were White, but about a third of them were Black. Many of them were immigrants that were abused in a dangerous working environment with no safety standards and psychotic bosses who's security would fire randomly into their makeshift tents to keep them scared and under their thumb. Over time a movement started which lead to a rebellion and then later to union marches which picked up socialist/communist messaging...
https://www.youtube.com/embed/RRh0QiXyZSkThat’s one historical origin. Some Scottish who traditionally wore a red bandanna also were called rednecks. And the poor white man who worked in the fields with a sunburned neck was also referred to as such
My roots trace back to W Virginia and I’m proud to be a working man
That’s an legacy to be proud of! Hard workers
I love that song!!
I've never really thought about it mainly because I'm not in the US and that tends to be the only place it's used. I do know that it can be used in a derogatory manner though, but I personally don't find it offensive.
I had a man offended with me once over that term. And I used it to describe myself! SMH
Right? Lol
A little bit. I absolutely hate when people call me a redneck since it's usually a word used to describe men. Not offensive but just don't like it
People call guys and girls rednecks around here…
Do you find it offensive when used to describe a man?
👍 just un preferable in your opinion
I have been called a redneck & it hasn't offended me.
Me either! It’s a compliment to me

No we love it actually it’s very funny to us And also the word cracker
Cracker has proper roots here in Florida
Same here! ❤️
👊yes
I thought that slang for country people. Who live on the outskirts or in the woods
Yep, sure
I thought white trash was the slur
I consider WT to be a slur
I know it is meant to be offensive but it has taken on a whole new meaning, sort of like deplorable.
It really all depends on who's saying it. Only "we" can use that word 🤣🤣🤣
If the original rednecks knew how the term was used today they would be pissed
Any redneck I ever knew held the term with pride.
Amen Brother
I mean it in an offensive way when I say it. But I only use it to describe a very specific type of people.
Hmmm 🤔 ok 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah?
I don’t get offended easily lol, I’m just curious as to what kind of people you are referring to. My coworker that dislikes the word uses it with a racist connotation which I do not associate personally
Kinda hard to explain with words, but some characteristics are: primitive, unintelligent, douchy, bigoted, racist, homophobic, right-wing, gun fetishists, awful taste in pretty much everything from music to clothes.
Nah never but the other terms are a little
