Why are takeaway pizzas so expensive in the UK? I hadn't ordered one for years, but went to order last night and saw the one I wanted was £23?

If you’re talking about the big pizza chains like Pizza Hut and dominos, it’s usually as they do group deals cheaper to sell more stuff and make more money. Still minimum order around £20 up to £40 for big deal but seems better to spend £25 on two sides and pizza then one pizza £20


As for independent pizza places if you’re looking online at Deliveroo and Uber eats. Their prices just went up during the pandemic and stayed that way as with most places. But even then it’s closer to £15 not 20

Good question. The price here compared to other countries is ridiculous. No one understands how the same company can charge such a big difference between different countries. Its not like the raw ingredients are expensive here and they all pay minimum wage.
For comparison non chain pizza places charge around £10 for a 12 inch takeaway pizza and I think that's expensive.

That's not expensive, and you can even get two for the same price on Tuesdays in some takeaways.

The shit you call "pizza" in the US probably is mostly bread.

I live in Canada so I’m not sure why they cost so much, maybe oil or cheese or tomatoes or wheat are in short supply. I wanted to visit Burger King when Canada first started denying Russian imports cause I thought bread might increase in price and Jack up the price of burgers.

Depending on the pizza. For a good large with toppings… 20-23 is normal with extra charges now for rising food cost.
