What do you do to beat the heat?

Where I live it gets up to 113° during July and August. Even now it's pretty hot outside. I just stay inside during the summer months. What do you do?

It gets really hot at my workplace, between the equipment, the normal daily heat, and the greenhouse effect with the windows. All I really can do is just enjoy the few minutes everytime there has to be a paperwork review and take that opportunity to down a whole bottle of water.

Hoy cow! Where do you live? I live in Florida and our alltime record high temperature was 109° F. in 1931.

Well, I just drop my pants and take it in both hands and... OH!! HEAT!!! Sorry!! Well, IN the house, I just turn on a fan. I spend most of my time upstairs working on various computer projects (writing, editing music, building recording projects, etc.) and, as we know, heat rises. so, it's nearly always about 10 degrees warmer up here than it is downstairs. There IS a built in AC type unit where, if I need to, I can turn that on and it helps to cool down the house. I just try not to use it any more than I have to because it probably takes up a LOT more power to run than just the stand-up fan I have next to my bed. There's also a hose coming from it that drips the excess water it produces into the washtub sink but, there''s a very slow leak where the hose connects to the furnace so, I have to go empty the bucket under it at least once a day or it'll run all over the floor. If there's a nice breeze blowing outside, I might even open a couple windows up here.
If I AM outside, I'll just sit in the breeze or go between this house and the one next door where there's usually a much stronger breeze.
At MY house, at least up until a decade or two ago, I'd just go out back and jump into the pool! But, after 25 years, the liner was loaded with tiny pinholes and we were losing lots of water so, as a new liner would cost as much as the entire pool did when we got it, dad decided to just have it filled in. From then on, I was reduced aforementioned methods or, if I wanted to take the time to get there and could afford the cost to get in, I'd go to a public pool.

I'm in California where it's not humid. We decided not to get whole house AC and opted for an evaporative (swamp) cooler instead. We drain it, slide it out of the window and cover it up in the cool weather (fall through spring). When the hot summer arrives, we slide it back into the window and prepare if for operation.

It blows into our living room like a strong fan with cool air. We also have a window AC unit in our bedroom when the evenings are too warm.

But I'm like you. I stay indoors a lot on hot days. We got up to 103 yesterday. Today it's a 83 with a nice breeze. We'll have more hot days before summer is over, though. It occasionally gets over 110. 🥵

I try to stay out of the heat as much as possible. When I need to be outside, I cover up from the sun. Wear light colored clothing. Sunglasses and a straw hat! Stay hydrated!! Not alcohol either!

I might just go to the beah and get in the water. Mostly I just put on shorts and try to hydrate. The heat really does not bother me that much anyway. I love to sweat.
