Are fireworks legal where you live?

Yeah! But I live by the river and there's also lots of open spots around my area that people could shoot fireworks from if they wished.
Only small fireworks are legal here. We usually drive over the border to south carolina to buy the big fireworks
I bet it’s at South of the Border, right?
Oh yeah, SC has a ton of fireworks. My first thought was SOTB because it’s a tourist trap that I always fall for. 🤣

It’s the hat. It always gets me. Every time.

When I look it up it says only handheld and ground sparklers are legal but It’s weird because I definitely see fireworks being sold around here. People set them off all the time.
We have some pretty stringent fireworks laws in the UK.
https://www.gov.uk/fireworks-the-law
basically restricted to
between 15 October and 10 November
between 26 December and 31 December
three days before Diwali and Chinese New Year
I never realised they could be illegal in the US.
@exitseven yeah 4th July is a fairly decent time here, it’s like that time when you pass a girl you had the hots for at school and she’s not a hippopotamus with a toxic attitude, you realise you dodged a bullet , hehe
Why are they banned?
@chrismaster69 Probably because people would hold a M-80 in their bare hand and were surprised when all their fingers were gone.
When I sold police equipment some cops were showing me some B&W crime photos. One of them was a guy that was in a bathroom. He had his head blown clean off and his eyeball landed on the toilet seat and it was looking up at the cops. The cop told me the guy committed suicide by taking 3 M-80s and tying the fused together. He put it in his mouth and lit the fuse. The cop had to go and tell the guy's wife. She looked at the cop and just said "He did it with the M-80s , right? "
@exitseven Darwin in action.
Yep we dodged a bullet lol
No they're illegal but they smuggle them in. 4th of July it sounds like a war zone around here. We live at the very end of my police district so the cops don't come around here very often. We are the community known by the police as "neighborhood justice". Whenever there's a problem we handle it ourselves. After we catch the criminal then we call the police.
@Sparkie460 When was the last time you had a lynching?
We had a problem 2 years ago. We caught the guy and threw him a whopping. Lately we've been having a lot of vehicle breaking. He's been caught on several cameras. We figured out his pattern. Now we're looking for him. He's due to hit tomorrow night.
@Sparkie460 Yes, give him a good beatin' because the liberal prosecutor won't be bothered.
Oh we definitely will, just like we did last time. There's 14 of us homeowners who will be staked out throughout the neighborhood. There's only one way in to my development by vehicle, six ways in by foot.
Here are the Florida laws on fireworks. Most residents have specific days when they are permitted to use fireworks.

I live on agriculturally zoned land with a agricultural land classification, thus I can use fireworks whenever the hell I want to "frighten birds from agricultural works".
The big ones are but that doesn't stop them trying to rival a Disneyland show in my area. The cops just ignore it all.
Yea, they probably don;t buy them either.
Yes, they are, although there are a few restrictions like not after a certain time.
Also, at my home town, there is a big port. If it is outside normal fireworks dates, like 5 November and New Year, people usually let the Coastguard and Coastwatch know. We don't want lifeboats launched because of a stray rocket.
There will be a big public display on the sea front during Carnival Weekend. We will be home for that. Right on the sea front.
Legal here in Florida.
When I lived in California, where fireworks were either banned or heavily restricted, I was really excited about them. When I moved here to Florida, where you can buy fireworks at most retailers, I lost interest and haven't bought any.
Fireworks are legal to light by everyone from the 27th of December until and including the 1st of January (the period around new years). In those days they are legal all over the country apart from areas with many houses with straw roofing, fireworks have to be lit at least 100 m away from those houses. Certain places can get special permission to fire them outside of that period for big events, but that is limitted to professionals.
Legal here to buy but almost no legal places to light them off, except right in the city... illegal in the country due to wild fire risks.
Nope but that doesn't stop anyone from selling them, buying them, or shooting them off, so they might as well just make them legal🤷🏼♀️
Not legal here in New York but you would never know that on the 4th of July, every block has a few houses setting them off , too many people for the cops to stop it so they don’t really do anything, too busy responding to fires and accidents from them. People can just go to Pennsylvania to get them. I usually just go to the big displays they have in certain areas
Not personally but to go watch pros shoot them off is allowed. But, there are still people that buy them out of state (we're half an hour from the border) and bring them back and shoot them off, anyway but, nobody ever stops us from doing that.
They are illegal unless it's new year's eve and to have to get a permit but all of December it's all over the country and people get hurt and a lot of property damage.
I think so…. Ik my neighborhood only use them during holiday celebrations. Like on New Year’s Day we’re all usually outside with music and fireworks.
Usually, outside of the city limits. It’s been way too dry for the last couple of years so they’re all banned right now. We have over 150 wildfires burning right now.
Yes, they are illegal just like the illegals that fire them off anyway and don't care that it's illegal. At least in my neighborhood.
Where I live no but I can walk next door and not only buy them but blow them off until midnight. I live on the border of two different towns.
No. It's done on a city by city basis in California. They are illegal here, but I can drive 15 minutes and be In a city where they are legal.
They use everything here. It is a dog's nightmare and they hate it
No fireworks are legal in California. Some states restrict to on ground only others restrict size I know Nevada allows everything!
Yes, fireworks are legal but there are limits on when and where you can use them. Plus many HOAs have banned them.
Yes they are legal here. Mostly used in Weddings, parties, Diwali (festival of lightworks).
Yes they are. But people only use them when there's a party or at New Year's Eve.
They are but there’s a burn ban currently so we’re not allowed to use them.
No but we can get them driving over the county line and we shoot them off in our yards or go to a commercial firework show either way it’s not a problem in Miami
only the small ones that don't go over 50 feet are legal by me.
No; fireworks are not illegal here. But I have heard that you can get bigger and better ones in North Carolina.
@Apple1996 Oh, for real? I didn't know that.
Nice!
Well, just don't do it on base. Lol
Lol. Glwt. 😅
They are Illegal
But Cops don’t Care to Enforce it.
Yes they are and it was that long ago my grandpa could go to the hardware store a buy dynamite, grandma said he did like to blow things up)
Yes, unbearably legal. Makes up for lot of pollution in the country, especially during some specific festivities.
Yes. I drive by about 20 firework stands on my way to work.
Ya because of fire warnings
If they aren’t, then the ban isn’t doing any good, since I hear fireworks all the time near my house.
Yes, New Year tradition.
Yup. Perfectly legal.
yeah
Yes.
Yep.
