Random question about eye contacts: Is it safe to use contacts forever?

First of all, I apologize for a posting a question about eye contacts here. I am aware that this not a site intended for asking questions like these but I am not sure of any other sites to ask questions nor have a figure to ask this kind of question to.
Anyways, my question is is it safe to use contacts forever?

I used one day lenses ( contact lenses that you dispose of after one-time use ).

- I throw away the contact lenses after one-time use but my question is, is it okay to continue using these kinds of lenses every single day?

-- Not the same pair of lenses everyday, but these kinds of lenses every single day for the rest of my life?
**** I am aware of the safety tips and hazards to contact lenses and always keep them in mind/apply those tips and hazards at all times (Especially of how you should wear glasses for 7 days or so if your eyes become sensitive and to visit a doctor and follow instructions if infection occurs/stop usage if told to)***

As a background, I've been wearing contacts for the past 30 years. The ones I wear are the 2-week kind. Like you, I take care of them as directed, and toss them at 2 weeks. In my case, when the rinse bottle is done, I get rid of them. Sometimes, it's 13 days and other times as long as 17. My eye Doc is fine with the way I use them, and I get an annual eye exam.

To answer your specific Q - yes, you CAN wear those type contacts as many years as you want. Make sure you get annual eye checks with at least an Optometrist or better an Opthamologist. The latter is familiar with eye diseases and knows how to treat those. Follow the directions (as you have) in wearing them. Take them out if your eyes are itching and give your eyes some time to "heal" from whatever is bothering them.

As I get older, wearing contacts for 14-16hrs/day is getting more difficult. Finally, make sure you have a set of glasses to wear - just in case. I wear mine from time to time just to give my eyes a break.

Best advice I can give you - don't ask things like that here. Some people on here will actively seek out misinformation just to deliberately see you blinded. I believe daily contacts are intended to be used by swapping out each day. But consult your opticians for proper advice.

The best answer will come from your optometrist or ophthalmologist, as that person knows your specific issues. There is no automatic cut off on when you have to stop wearing contacts. If your eyelids start drooping, then stop using them. Maintain regular checkups with your eye doctor, and follow your doctor's recommendations.
