Sure, drawbridge up at all times... no one coming without advance planning, no more sales people or whoever.

Better than a moat, I'd prefer a house on top of a mountain with a 5000 food straight down cliff on all sides... and a old creaky wobbly rope bridge for unexpected visitors. That way I don't have to feel the moat monsters.

But a moat would be the next best thing, a alternative to a moat monster though would be full of acid... that could work too.

I think when I hit my dream and I can put money for it, yes. I'm gonna have a moat and if you wanna talk to me, I gotta drop the bridge. Or force you to use the jetpacks but there's only two. If there's 5 of you, 3 of you need to fuk off. And if you try to steal it, it will blow up on your back because you are out of range of the jetpack stand. Won't kill 'em... but you won't be able to sleep on your back for three weeks

The only thing is that I would need a "catch" directly beneath the cliff or "housing" for the swimming beasties when I need them out of the water because of my infant & if I'm serving alcohol & a lot of it during parties lol

A house with a moat and that too with sharks in it is a double edged sword. You can keep the intruders away, but, somehow they manage to enter, then it will be a hell lot of difficult for you to escape.
