Getting attacked for a bad review?

I recently left a 2 star review for a restaurant I went to. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but the food was inedible and the staff was incredibly rude. We ended up paying 200$ (for 2 people) without even eating anything. The restaurant replied with insults, saying that I made the whole thing up and that I was just looking to get free stuff. They even called me multiple times, asking me to remove the review. Would you remove the review if you were in my situation?

Did you try to work this out with the manager while you were at the restaurant? If you did, and the manager did nothing to satisfy you, then the review is totally justified, and there's no reason to remove it.

If you didn't say anything while at the restaurant, and give them a chance to resolve things, then the review is unfair and you should remove it.

If you ever have a bad experience at a restaurant, always ask to speak with the manager. They will almost always do something to satisfy their customer, which can include offering a different meal, a free dessert, reduced charge, or even a free meal.

Leave the review and are you able to add an update to it, asking that you'd appreciate if the business owner (s) stop harassing you with follow-up calls asking you to squash the honest review.

Regardless of if you were faking or not, the business should have remained professional, and should not be using insults or calling the person directly. If they had an issue, they should have sought legal action for defamation, etc.

The fact you both paid in the first place means it wasn't as bad as you're making out.

We paid because we didn't want to make a scene, and we didn't want the restaurant to lose money since the food was already prepared.
