I don’t think about it too often. But when it does pop into my head, I think about it all day long.
Sometimes when I’m talking to young children, I randomly think about how I was about their age the first time I was assaulted. It just pops into my mind.
And I get really sad seeing how innocent and care free they are. And to think that’s what I looked like when it happened I’m just like…. damn
Almost every minute of every day, it haunts me constantly. There is no escaping it, I simply try to ignore it and focus on other things. I've done thousands of hours of therapy, didn't help... well it did but not like how people think it does.
There is no getting over it, so many people have told me I need to get over it.
He was a serial rapist and only got 4 and a half years, the injustice is part of the problem. Had he gotten more time, I know it would be less of a problem for me.
I have a lot of complicated thoughts about my situation. I've never really known how to categorize it. I wasn't raped or assaulted really. I volunteered for everything I did. With that said, I wasn't old enough to know what I was volunteering for and the manipulation used to get me to go along with things is obvious years later. It's all tough to figure out since it's still on-going, though I am old enough now to know what I volunteer for still and I've grown to love the relationship the way it is now. Can't really explain much on a public forum, the i-word and all. It may be many years whenever I'm removed from the whole thing before I probably will ever process the whole situation.
For a while it was very often just because I saw them often around. But recently I live very far away now, and so now it mostly only happens when I hear or smell certain things that remind me. The common ones are slamming doors and wet cut grass. But it doesn't happen every time anymore. So I think it will keep getting less often hopefully until I only think about it once in a while.
s It’s taken me years to stop thinking about it daily, to finally push it out of my mind. When there’s been multiple instances, it’s not the easiest to move past. These days those memories only pop into my mind if either I see one of the people in public who assaulted me, or someone triggers me. But I have coping methods in place to help me calm down.

Have you ever been in so much emotional pain that your legs literally give out and you fall to your knees, wrap your arms around yourself and scream at the top of your lungs because it hurts so much that's all you can do?
If you haven't, then rest assured that worse things in life can happen. Maybe that'll help you get over it
Depends which time I guess. My youngest daughter is the age I was when it happened and I stress about it bad every time she goes outside without me. I think about the most recent time often because it wasn’t long ago and it affects my sleep.
Last time I thought about it deeply I went into a six-month depression. I was never the same after that, but I think I matured a little... just a little.

I got SAed 3x in college. I don’t think of it often, but being around fat girls with glasses and gay guys puts me on edge now……
So, yeah…
Every day, it will never leave me.
Yes, I had depression about it for 3 months, it was also hard for me to get out of work by myself 🙁
