Yes. From the time that I was very young, I went to our across the street neighbor's pool and learned how to swim. It was like the neighborhood pool and kids were there every day.

In my early teens, I learned how to body surf and belly board in the ocean. Friends also had pools that I would swim in a lot. We would do lots of laps for exercise and practice different stokes.

When our family went camping in the mountains during the summer, I could swim across the lake and back.

When I was about 15, I learned how to surf. That was before there were tethers to keep from losing the board. So if you wiped out, the board washed in to shore and you had to swim in.

I learned how to dive off of the high dive and off of cliffs, too. And to snorkel under water.

In my early 20s, I took a canoeing class at community college. In order to take the class, you had to swim the length of their Olympic-size pool and back fully clothed. I thought "Pffft, no problem." But in Levis, sneakers and a T-shirt, dragging on me, I was surprised by how tired I was by the time I made it to one end. On the way back, I floated on my back and paddled in order to rest.
I didn't know if that was cheating, but the instructor passed me. They just wanted to insure that you knew how not to drown.

So yeah, I'm a good swimmer.

I took swimming lessons all the way through to become a National Life Guard/Saver and Swim Instructor. I also have my PADI SCUBA Instructor license.

I always had a job doing one or the other in the winter/summer periods and it paid well. I also gave private swimming instruction to several people in their backyard pools during the summer period.

I still swim, snorkel and SCUBA dive a lot for work and enjoy hopping in the bay or the river directly off my property on a hot summer day. I often, cut and trim the lawn on a hot day in the summer and just jump in off the dock to cool off.

I swim to one of the islands twice a week which is about 400 m one way.

Not really. I can only swim under water then I have to stop and stand up so I can breathe.

We were forced to take swimming 4-6th grade and again in high school but I still can’t, lmao.

I was a level 1 in elementary (floating) for like 2 years 😅. Then I was finally elevated to level 2 and did all the dumb ass strokes. Everyone else was like level 3/4 by then.

I can't swim anywhere near me cause the water is either polluted so severely that just getting within a football field of it can make you sick. Or it has alligators in it, making swimming in the water a citable offense

My truthful retort of "I'm not scared of any gators, I hate living anyways" will only get me a trip to the hospital cause they'll think I'm mentally ill. Maybe they're right

As for me I love to swim especially in the ocean & each as well as every time I go to the beach I spend more time in the water & I love my aqua & solar therapy days.

Like a fish!! We had a pool in the back yard for 23 years! I spent nearly all summer every summer in it.

Yes. I took lessons at the Y when I was a kid.

I do have sinus issues and should not be under water, but I can swim if I need to.

Yep, I grew up at the ocean and started surfing pretty young. Water feels like home.

Yes, my brother almost drowned in our pool when he was three. So I our mom made sure we all had swimming lessons by then.
