I saw somebody else on this site said to practice combination moves on an empty board. I consider that too much effort and my advice is to use your horse to threaten two different pieces at the same time because the odds they would be able to escape both threats in a single move are lower that way. Another way is forced negotiation where you put less important pieces on a suicide mission to kill off more important pieces because sometimes the piece protecting the other piece is more valuable than the piece it’s protecting. Anybody would trade a bishop for a queen and some games force you to eat whenever you are able to, so it’s a good way of killing off elite pieces. The other is, if you never move your rook or king, your allowed to castle, so protect the castling area with extra guards.
the main thing to practice as a beginner is "pairing pieces" first practice on an empty board how you can move a horse while a bishop protected it and the opposite. pair bishop with rook castle and pair two castles. then practice with enemy pawns on the board. then play a bot for example chess dot com allows you to select levels.
