Do you think people over 25 that doesn’t have their drivers license are pathetic?

I mean 16 is when most people get their license or whatever. Most people under 25 get their license and older people that don’t drive are pathetic! I have an older cousin that 38 and has NEVER drove in her life! Never! She’s learned but never ever put the effort to get her license. Her father got blunt and told her that he won’t be about to drive for long and she needs to learn to drive! She failed her permit test three time! How does someone fail their Pernod test three times? He’s been pushing her to get into it again and others encouraged her to do so and stop with the excuses. I’m getting my license soon and I’m 20. I got my permit. I know people take the bus, or Uber but come on. People over 25 need to stop being so lazy, expect people to give them rides, get their asses up and get their license.
I don’t mean to sound rude of blunt, but I said what I said.

it's best to not judge people and their different situations... i do know that it makes it harder on them to get around places and have to depend on others because i have a friend like that. what their reasons are, depends on them. you don't know what's in her mind.

as for you, i was 18 when i got my license. why are you 20 and not have your license yet? because i got mine when i was 18. so why haven't you? haven't you heard you have to be exactly like everyone else and follow everyone else's timeline? not your own? i'm being sarcastic. but it doesn't feel nice, does it?

if she's not hurting anyone, i don't see the point on wasting so much energy thinking about why she hasn't gotten her license at 38.

Nope! Pretty shallow minded to think so.

I didn’t get my license until I was 24. I didn’t need one in New York, but when I moved to Alaska it was necessary.
When I moved to Korea I didn’t drive at all for 2 years. I just walked and took public transportation. It’s not necessary for everyone.

At one point in time I would have thought it pathetic. Now though, where I live, gasoline is over $4.00 a gallon and the price for a new license is almost $40, and even if you manage to get a car, you have to drive it every day or at least move it from the street or it will get towed. It kind of makes you question if it's worth it. I've lost 2 cars because they were towed and if you wait any longer than 3 days to get them out of impound, it's almost $500 to get it out, and by the end of the week, $1,200. Being that I only paid $5,000 for my car, I wouldn't waste one iota of time!

So, anymore, it's not as much pathetic as it is impossible to get one, where I live anyway.

This is a incredibly American question...
In the US having a license is important in order to have autonomy due to how car centric the city planning etc is.
Other parts of the world takes on a completely different approach however.
And here in Europe it's a goal *not* to use the car.
And with busses passing every 10 min in my relatively small former home city, the environmental costs of driving, the price of a license in my country (on average about 3 000 USD and you can lose it, get fined and land in jail if you drive 12 mph over the limit) I've found that I've never needed one before.

dont think it is, you really dont need a car at all nowadays especially if you live in a big city. there's public transportation, bicycles, motorcycles and walking. honestly not owning a car is better for your wallet, your waistline, health & the planet. and its not like you need a car for most things anyways, like you really dont need your car for somewhere 15min away lol

if you ever really need a car there's uber, taxis and ride share apps anyways

No not at all. I did not get my driver's license until I was 19. The reason was FEAR! My Mother who at the time worked at the DMV tried to teach me how to drive. She made me nervous when I would get up any normal speed. She would even place her feet on the dashboard to brace herself. My boyfriend at the time, now my husband of 23 years had the chill factor to teach me how to drive. It really helped build my confidence.

No. I still don't have one! Grandma didn't get one `til she was just about my age, mom, didn't get one `til she was at least 20. The singer in my band was 5 years older than me. He went to his grave about 10 years ago without ever having one. As far as I know, my neighbor's wife is in her 80's and still doesn't have one. My aunt Anna died 3 weeks shy of her 100th b-day and never had a license.

Nope. People living in the city particularly New York City usually don't really need it. They walk a lot or catch cabs. My step dad for instance doesn't have one because he grew up in the city.

I don't think people are pathetic for not having their license. I don't think they should depend on others to drive them either and they should try to pass the test.

Not pathetic at all... My father lived his whole life without a driver's license. He took the bus to/from work each day, walked to the grocery store, and my mother did all the family driving.

I have a couple friends who aren't going go get a license. They said driving gives them horrible anxiety and they start panicking and it's safer for everyone if they don't drive.

That is crap, i have Autism and because of it i don't drive, and lots of other people with disabilities either don't drive either and some are not allowed to. Saying that people over 25 are pathetic for not having a drivers licence is pathetic

I'm sure New Yorkers will disagree with you same with bigger city people you literally can't drive there since heavy amounts of traffic are a thing most people would rather walk than spend hours in traffic or in a bus I was stuck in 3hr traffic in East L. A I for sure ain't traveling there no more

I was 16 when I got mine but everyone is different. A lot of kids today don't even bother becsuse they can use Uber and have other people drive them around.

Depends upon why. Living in some cities it is unnecessary. Certain lifestyles might also make it unnecessary. Case in point: Deep Purple / Rainbow guitar virtuouso Ritchie Blackmore did not get his till he was 39 because he did not need one.

Kind of. Some exceptions exist. It comes in handy even if you don't keep a car. And it works abroad too.
