My mom says “I’m not ready for a relationship”?

My mom has said I’m mature for my age but then when it comes to me talking to her about guys she says, “I don’t think you’re ready for a relationship”… what does that mean? I don’t get it I’m 24 and all the people I went to high school with are getting engaged or having kids.. what’s different about me that she’s seeing? I’ve asked and she doesn’t really answer. She got pregnant and married at 19 and that failed but I just don’t get it because I’m a lot older than she was… wondering from other parents of young adults what she could mean by that?

you are ready for a relationship, she's just scared for you knowing how dating can be, you are ready and i know deep down she knows it too, tell her you are and that you feel ready.

I am I have no idea why she thinks that I still live with her but I’d never have a guy over her house, she’s typically still frustrated I still live with her so I don’t understand why she thinks I’m not ready to date.. I’d think she would want me to if she wants me to more out so bad

You’re an adult. You don’t have to listen to or follow everything your mother says anymore. If she can’t give you a straight answer, I would definitely let that go in one ear and out the other.

I still live with her so maybe thats a reason but I’d never bring a guy over like I feel like she should want me to date cause she's normally sick of me still living with her

maybe the two of you have very different ideas of what a relationship actually is... or implies

if she still has any word or input in your personal life... then this should be a conversation about these things, and not just her saying if you're ready or not and you doubting yourself over her opinion
