Did you ever think that ferrets were rodents?

That seems to be a common misconception but ferrets aren't rodents. They're more closely related to cats and dogs (don't believe me, look at the teeth).

They were actually domesticated to kill rodents who raided grain stores:

And I do know someone who worked at an exotic vets' office who said that the whole "ferrets are rodents" misconception caused a lot of emergency visits from snake owners who practiced live feeding.

They obviously belong to the carnivora. Not sure why anyone would place them into rodents.

There are surprising zoological facts, for example that whales are odd-toed ungulates, but this one is not of that kind.
